I would welcome the opportunity to manage my own SS, through some sort of private account. At least I wouldn't have to worry about Libs trying to do more income and wealth redistribution...
Same here, but unfortunately we live in a country where people are afraid to take on that kind of responsibility for themselves and any major change to the SS system is painted as people trying to manipulate or steal from the elderly.

Brunell Donald-Kyei is voting for Trump. So there is this one black lady.

https://youtu.be/S7CqZO9wdcI

She talks about Trump actually going out and earning Black people's vote, not just being entitled to it.

She talks about Trump's plan to put 100 billion dollars into their community and school choice.

She talks about how it's not Obamas fault that they are all of a sudden in that position but sitting back and being "entertained" at rallys by Beyonce and Jay-Z isn't going to get them a seat at the table.

Also, she's been a Democrat for over 20 years I believe.

Listen to her if you can.

I don't know how anybody, let alone blacks, could vote for such a d-bag like Trump.

I've heard this from another black guy from a focus group, " because Clinton is worse".

Or Clinton.

Just because Trump is a train wreck, it doesn't make Hillary any better.

The answer is, they fall prey to right wing fearmongering. And the fall for it again and again and again.
Those same poor whites have been voting for laws and bills that screw over minority groups. The irony is that they have been screwing over themselves by proxy.

This is why they're pro Trump. He paints a picture of "Us vs Them" and "them" is anyone not white. He promises he'll make white lives better at the expense of everyone else's life and it totes won't negatively affect poor whites nope, not at all just all the other racial groups! And he does so without the dog whistles (tellin it like it is!).

Their racism trumps their sense of self preservation and welfare for their fellow man. As an interesting aside, Dr. King tried to expand his movement to be in inclusive of these people before he was assassinated. The same ones that hated him and everything he stands for.

For years the white voting block was the most powerful, and all they did was vote in folks the enacted laws that screwed them over because it had the added benefit of screwing over blacks, women, and others.

Poor whites will be fine with having white "elites" put their boot on their neck as long as those same "elites" are stringing up black and brown people by theirs.

Because some of my best earning years were/are under Bill Clinton & Barack Obama. I suffered, as many others did, under GWB and can't imagine what would happen under a Trump administration. And that is no coincidence.

How are black folks by and large doing in the D.C. area?

No its not. The Koch bros and countless other members of the billionaire class hate SS and Medicare with a passion. The Kochs alone will have donated almost a billion dollars to various candidates this election because they are on a mission; eliminate SS, Medicare and every other program that benefits the 99%. The best way to trick the 99% into supporting it is to rack up as much debt as possible through huge tax breaks for the big money donor class, endless wars, bailouts etc etc and then say to the 99% that we can no longer afford the programs you rely on. Age old tactic.
