Look, I am a libertarian who caucuses with conservatives. I had no real dog in this fight. Although I admit that I narrowly voted for Trump, he was not my first, second, third, or even fourth choice. I was a Kasich man, and would have been happy with Rubio, Walker or Christie, all of whom I would have trusted to carry the smaller government banner.

Hell, for the first time ever, I might have voted for the right kind of Democrat.

But y'all should quit your crying. Trump is a lifetime Dem and big government socialist who gives you a lot more than you seem to realize. You have two things out of the gate:

A) Trade protectionism and tariffs are traditionally a libdem position. It was Republicans who were the free traders. In the Bizarrro world of American politics that began to change in the 90's when Bill Clinton decided to switch sides and become a Republican. Protectionsim remained the position of a lot of Dems until first Clinton and then Obama succeeded in decimating your party--many who held that point of view were simply put out to pasture, and the focus of the party has largely switched to elitist issues and identity politics. I am sure that a lot of you younger politcos don't realize that, but there it is. Trump is acting more like a classic democrat than most democrats.

B) He's a big government guy and has already promised not to dismantle the most popular parts of Obamacare. He will probably give you something closer to single payer than Obama did.

What you are going to have to give up is identify politcs. Americans have decided that we are tired of being called racist for wanting controlled immigration, checks on terrorism, and honesty from the blacklivesmatters types. But that is a different story.

Trump is, quite simply, a 90s Democrat.

Peace.

Why do you emphasize what Trump says when he switches positions every minute? Focus on who he is hiring to see where the direction is going. He is stacking his cabinet with crony capitalists, Wall Street fat cats and big money donors. This is an administration geared for corruption and the super rich, not to expand Medicare, keep SS and protect rural America.

Its true that most Americans are far more progressive economically than what the media portrays and are clearly New Deal democrats, but the Trump administration is anything but. They use the popular progressive economic message as empty rhetoric before doing what has been going on for 40 years now, pick the pockets of the working families and the disabled in order to enrich their cronies at the very top.

Trump may be 90% Democrat, but he is 100% for himself. This run for the Presidency is simply the cherry on his ego pie, and crafted to make his name even bigger and his wallet fatter. All you have to do is look at the people he is putting in place to realize how this administration is going to change America.

When you see a group of bigots, corporate wolves, and alt right wingers sitting at the same table, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what is going to happen.

Excellent. Well said. He is overly impressed with his own importance. We need not look any further than his use of Twitter to lash out at those who disagree with him and scoffing at the need for daily intelligence briefings because he is "too smart".

I've been amazed at the things said about Trump when we just went through 8 years of an Obama Administration.
I believe the word you're looking for is Narcissist which describes our current President exactly.

Ever count the number of I's in an Obama speech ? Trump rarely uses that term.

I want the left to threaten, insult, and whine on Trump... the left thinks this will do NOTHING... seriously, they think all this will do nothing... it will push Trump further to the right... which will ultimately destroy them... idiots... but its good, it only makes it faster than before...

At least Obama does not use social media to make baseless rants and intimidate others. That speaks volumes.

Have a nice day!

Trump has been a registered Republican since the 80's, how does that make him a Democrat?
