GOP dominance of state level races retards the Democrats pool of future leaders because that's where most of them start out. Right now there is no obvious answer of the Democrats in 2020. Had Trump lost the GOP has a boatload on good candidates and ironically the GOP has a much more racially diverse pool of candidates.
