Both candidates ran their campaigns to get the most electoral votes possible. Not popular votes. Those were the rules of the game and both campaigns knew it. Why do you think they spent all their time in pretty much the same states to the point where both their jets were right next to each other at one point?
Even if the EC was abolished tomorrow, Donald Trump and Mike Pence are going to be the president and vice president from January 2017 - January 2021 at least.

As it should be, they won according to the rules in place.
But that still doesn't justify a lame attempt at keeping one group of voters from having too much influence by giving another group of voters too much influence which is all the Electoral College 'accomplishes'.
Why shouldn't Republican votes in a heavily Democratic state like count for something?

Most likely they will be, but not necessarily. For one, the electoral college hasn't voted yet, and while it's unlikely, they do have the power to not vote for Trump. And two, he still has trials pending that could lead to impeachment before he even takes office.

Long past time to establish 'One man, one vote'.
It works for legislators, why not for POTUS?
because then there is a strong chance the liberal cesspool of California will decide every election
They also don't realize that if the Electoral College didn't exist, Hillary Clinton still probably wouldn't be president.
In a Democracy, the majority rules. While Clinton has more votes, she doesn't have a majority. Which throws the decision to the House or Representatives. I think there's about a 60% chance that they would give it to Trump.

You're missing the point.
The EC system is broken. It drastically reduces the influence on the most prosperous regions in America while giving outsize influence to rural regions.
Election should NOT be designed in such a way that a limited groups of voters get to decide the entire election.

except that's not what you libs were saying before the election

Neither of these "predictions" will happen.
It's just like the "prediction" that he would not win the Presidency.
Trump will be the next President. He will not be Impeached.

Contradicting yourself much?
