In other words, he lost and the donor class won, yet again. The fact that mormons voted for the most anti-mormon candidate ever just shows the massive power of money and name recognition in our political system. And Trump and his cronies want to eliminate the remaining restrictions on this corruption so that all future candidates will be mere paid employees of the billionaire class who are given a script and shoved down the throat of the voters. What's so great about this?
Maybe if you spent more time trying to improve your economic situation you wouldn't be on these boards complaining about this mystical billionaire class. Life isn't fair deal with it.
The idea of a filibuster is to put a brake on one-sided legislation (Obamacare for example) that would otherwise go trucking right through Congress unabated. It's supposed to encourage compromise, which it did until politics became as polarized as it is today.
The filibuster is an accident. The founding fathers and US Constitution never mentioned it. The floor rules of the Senate have allowed it to continue to exist and it has come to be used as a political tool.
But let's be honest. The whole idea is just stupid.
"Welcome to Washington DC, the capital of the United States of America! Let's start our tour in the Capital building where elected representatives are hard at work passing, revising, updating and repealing laws to keep the greatest nation on earth working smoothly. Let's step into the Senate first and see what's going on there. Okay, here we see Senator Chris Murphy. He's standing there talking non-stop and refusing to sit down. He's been doing this for the last 15 hours. As luck would have it, nobody can force him to sit down and shut up. This helps prevent the rest of the elected representatives in the Senate from actually doing anything at all. This is what is called a 'filibuster' and these things can last as long as 24 hours or more. Isn't this a wonderful idea?"

The EPA is full of idiots.
Don't believe me? Go ask New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, southwestern Colorado and the Animas River.
Go ask the Arkansas River as it trecks through southeastern Colorado through shale and Selenium laden soils where they are demanding municipalities to continue to remove this chemical element from the wastewater where it's already abundant in the source waters and prevalent soils throughout the area, region, and downstream.
This is a huge waste of public money, an insurmountable task, and just otherwise utterly stupid.

So what? The Constitution doesn't mention any of the parliamentary rules at all.

No it's not.
With such excellent points and counter-arguments, how can I ever hope to compete??
Since you're clearly not serious about actually discussing the matter intelligently, I'm just going to drop it. If you had a good point to share, I expect you'd have done so by now.

I've already explained the purpose of the filibuster and didn't find it necessary to repeat it. Your reply amounts to "it's stupid" along with a glib satirical story about taking a tour of the "Capital" [sic] building. If that's what constitutes an intelligent discussion, "intelligent" didn't have a prayer to begin with.
