DNC boots candidate from chairmanship race for criticizing Ellison’s Islamic faith

In a Jan. 5 email to The Hill, Vincent Tolliver, a former House candidate in Arkansas, said that Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress, should not be chairman because of Islamic positions on homosexuality.

“His being a Muslim is precisely why DNC voters should not vote for him,” Tolliver wrote. “Muslims discriminate against gays. Islamic law is clear on the subject, and being gay is a direct violation of it. In some Muslim countries, being gay is a crime punishable by death.”

...
"The Democratic Party welcomes all Americans from all backgrounds. What we do not welcome is people discriminating against others based on who they are or how they worship," interim Chairwoman Donna Brazile said in a statement to The Hill.

But... his point is that the religion that Ellison is a part of... discriminates. He is correct. But Islam is more important right now than LGBT issues in the DNC ranks.

Don't expect that to apply to all religions, because if you change Islam to Christianity in the above statement... it's a whole different issue.

Dem politicians follow the money.

They champion whatever group provides the most payola.

That is exactly correct - Ellison is a great fund-raiser AND so is CAIR.
It's pretty much Standard now that the Leftists are participating in a Circular Firing Squad.

MONEY will be the last one standing.

Damn, I was really pulling for him.

As to the bold part, I agree, as one only needs to look to Obama for comparison.

If Ellison belonged to a Christian church that refused to accept gay marriage and openly opposed - it would be a guaranteed that the DNC would raise a stink over it and he would have no chance.

Good thing he is a Muslim.

Multiculturalism means tolerating such things if it comes from a non-mainstream position.

Apparently, Obama got his kicks from listening to Muslim morning prayers. There was , in his own mind, nothing quite like the sound of Imman prayers first thing in the morning.

My own prayer is for Ellison to be elected party chair and for Corey Booker to get the DNC pres nomination in 2020.

Expect much derision among the ranks of Dems in 2020. Will Booker be bold enough to claim he is the first "real Black president" if elected?. Obama will have to be thrown under the bus at some point. How will this play out among Black voters..........will they give up voting altogether rather than risk more embarrassment with Booker being elected and ultimately failing even more than Obama.

Most conservatives have decided to forgo Hollywood for entertainment. We now have the Democratic party to keep us all amused like Hollywood could never imagine.

Yup. As one of the comments on Powerline said - Muslims trump gays, lesbians, and the rest of the alphabet in the Progressive hierarchy of victimhood.

Personally I am 100% in favor of gay marriage and rights.

However, my advice to anyone facing a loss of a job or harassment over an anti-gay marriage position is to quickly claim to be Muslim and convert -- all of the flack will go away instantly.
