Of course, the Republicans would rather sit around and bash the Black, the Puerto Ricans, the immigrants, the Muslims. They will rue 2042 AD. If the Republicans had a brain they would allow Puerto Rico to become the 51st state. The mass migration would come to a halt overnight.
Per the last paragraph---Just stop already.

How are the republicans "bashing" those groups you mentioned? Give specific details.

BTW, the mass migration of PRs to the mainland should PR become a state, won't stop. Becoming a state won't improve the economy overnight. Gimme a break! Once WaPo had an article about PR. What the article said was that if PR became a state, it would take them 50 years to get to where MS is now. I can't believe that you are ignorant as to what condition the island is in now.

That is not true, and I don't see the relevance to my comment.

Obamacare does not work. If they cared about Obamacare the (D)'s wouldn't have lost the House and Senate over it would they?

As much as you and others want to spin it, people understood that it was nothing more than another way to boost Wall Street. Michigan cares about not having polluted water. (no the (R)'s wont fix that either). Philly wants more than crumbs that fall off the table at the Wall Street feast. The (R)'s won't fix this either BUT their supporters will still turn out to vote.
About 25 million people who never had health insurance before seem to think Obamacare works.

Go ahead. Cut them loose and see what happens next.

This is a sterling opportunity to make the ACA better, not worse. It's a very complicated law that needs to be improved, but rushing a half-baked replacement won't improve it.

It took over 18 months to get it created and made into law. If the Republicans slow down, go through all the intricacies carefully and craft a careful set of revisions, they'll keep Congress and the White House at least through 2024.

But if they persist in pushing the mess they have now through, they will be toast by 2019.
Essentially, all they have now for a plan is to kick it all down the road for another congress to straighten out sometime after 2020.

That's exactly what put us into the immigration mess. Millions of people who now are being treated for their chronic disease for the first time aren't going to be nearly as patient as immigrants when nothing comes to replace what they once had for a few years.

All the hell that rose up in the last recess at the town meetings over the loss of the ACA is just a faint whiff of what will follow if the Republicans mess this up. They should ignore Trump and use their own wits on this one.

No, it needs scrapped and we need UHC. Insurance companies need gone. We are never going to have affordable care as long as Wall Street is directing things.

"Many of our viewers might not know this, but there are voting members on the DNC who are lobbyists. Someone who works for Goldman Sachs is a voting member on the DNC. So I want that to be clear, that this party decided on Saturday what side that they stand on, and it is obviously not the side of the everyday person in this country who is really depending on the Democratic party to stand up for the people. We had the power to do something about that... but they didn’t even want to do that in terms of how we raise money to forward the mission. And to not have the willingness and the faith to trust that we would be able to raise millions upon millions of dollars from everyday people in this country is a little disturbing. As somebody said to me, conservatives in this country have a party and a half.”

As somebody said to me, conservatives in this country have a party and a half.

I disagree with the way that is stated, it should be "Republican's in this country have a party and a half" but the idea is there. The (D)'s can not win until they decide to fix this.

Newslogue Debate

There is a still small but growing segment that have decided to quit voting against something as opposed to for something. While not large as this election showed, it's large enough to make a difference.

There are two little words in the English language which form a handy phrase: "to be".

As in, "It needs to be scrapped...", and "Insurance companies need to be gone".

Good grammar is your friend, and it helps make your arguments more effective.

Universal health care would be wonderful, but I don't foresee it happening without a very long transition period, nor are the insurance companies likely to depart any time soon. So until both are off the stage, we need to address the very real problem of providing and paying for health care for all those who were covered under the ACA.

Today's headline in my local paper reads "Millions to lose coverage under GOP health bill". That's not acceptable.

People, no matter what your politics, keep on contacting your representatives and let them know this is not what we want. BTW, those same representatives have an excellent insurance plan provided by their status as government employees. But they are government employees who work for us, the people they've sworn to represent, whether we voted for them or not. So make them do their jobs. They work for us. Or at least, they're supposed to work for us. Remind them of that.
