What does this year's election percentages have to do with next year? Nothing... anti-Trumpers trying to find correlation where there is none... they should of realize that with Michigan, Penn, and Wisconsin....

So Scott Brown winning in Massachusetts in 2009/2010 and Tim Kaine winning Virginia in 2005 didn't foretell anything about the 2010 or 2006 elections?

As a near-local resident from the adjoining 11th district, I don't think Ossoff is going to beat Handel in the runoff assuming she campaigns competently over the next few months. However, I expect he should get close to the 48% of the vote he earned last week, and that does represent long-term progress for Democrats given they typically lose by landslide margins in this district.

It could be a warning sign for Republicans in similar relatively purple districts, but there are no guarantees. Perhaps like many posters in this forum, the majority of voters are so appalled by the Democrats' agenda and emphasis on what they consider fringe issues that there is no interest in imposing much of a check on the current party in power. Time will tell what happens.

Weren't you also overly confident that Hillary would win too? Yes, you were.

That's good, because she hasn't won any election lately. And won't anytime soon. Just like Ossoff.

We just saw it in Indiana last year with "Tennessee Trey Hollingsworth."

The guy lived his entire life in Tennessee (except for his college years, which were not spent in Indiana), and decided to move to Indiana and use his father's money to buy an open seat in a GOP district.

Hollingsworth is the ultimate rich carpetbagger, but many morons still voted for him, because "he will bring jobs to our area."

I don't think his residence being a little outside the district boundaries is a major issue for voters in Georgia 6th. He resides in the same metropolitan area, and the district is not a perfectly cohesive community of interest. Boundaries change every decade following a new census, and many members of Congress keep getting elected in different versions of their districts.

Republicans have won numerous House races across the nation by emphasizing that their opponent will vote with Nancy Pelosi, who is greatly disliked by right-leaning voters. Paul Ryan traditionally hasn't been as much of a target, but the Obamacare repeal attempt certainly didn't help his reputation, and we will see next week what sort of budget he can get through the House. I still think that using a "guilty by association" playbook against the opposition will work better for Handel than for Ossoff as this remains a conservative-leaning area, but the dynamics are changing now with Trump as president. Voters are realizing that Democrats are not currently empowered to make the key decisions in Washington, so it is becoming more difficult to hold them responsible for the country's problems.

Karen Handal severely hurt the Susan G Komen for the Cure organization by injecting her right wing politics there while she was a Senior Vice President. She was responsible for getting the organization to stop funding to Planned Parenthood which did many breast cancer screenings because it was also an abortion provider at some clinics. The backlash to this action was so strong that Komen reversed direction and Handal was forced out. The organization is to this day still tainted by its political involvement with donations still far below previous levels.

Its good to know that she sticks up for the unborn. All the more reason why I want her in.

I would rather they run on and promote the adopting of the hundreds of thousands of kids who are already in foster care waiting for a family. Their mothers chose not to abort them just like you guys wanted. Buy what kind of life is that if they are unwanted and not loved. There has to be some foundation which you build your life on. Loving parents nurture you and teach you their values. They want you to be the best you can be. Kids going from foster home to foster home never learn this. They never feel wanted. Before we condemn abortion we really need to care of these kids first. And I have never heard anyone who has run on this which is deplorable.
