I'm not talking about the Senate, House, but the state legislatures. Right now the Republicans control 33 state legislatures fully (or something like that), have about 30 state governorships, and have control of at least one state house in 41 states.

Do you think the Dems ever have a chance of taking the majority back from the Republicans or do you think the Republicans will always control the states (at least, until their party dies)?

I'm not certain that there will "always" be a United States.

I'd never answer in the affirmative to any "always" proposition.

Nothing lasts forever.

Exactly. Look at what happened to the mythical "Blue Wall."

It will last generations. Not sure how many, but it will last decades.

The D brand is simply not sellable in Middle America, at either the state or federal level, plus the rural % of population is higher in much of Middle America vs the coasts, and the inner city % of total population is lower there generally.

Nope, it tends to change every decade or so depending on how the ruling party behaves. If Trumps and the Republicans mess up and the economy goes into another freefall, you will see Dems take over quickly like they did in 2008.

this. it really depends on how the people of the states feel how their economy is going, and how the party in power in their state is handling the issues that crop up.

Middle America will continue to choose between GOP candidates during their primaries, while November elections stay a formality.

Agree, except for some red states like Kansas where no matter how bad it is, if the Democrat was holding a life raft and the Republican was holding an anchor, they would still vote for the Republican, even if it meant drowning.

Blue states do this also, for Dems, like Bridgeport, Ct who elected an ex con as mayor who took gratuities (bribes) during his first tenure as mayor.

Bingo. I find it ironic seeing all the Republicans cheering on the rule changes, without the understanding that eventually the show is on the other foot. And then they whine so much.
