newsobserver.com | NC primary could provide the final push to Democratic convention (broken link)

With all eyes on Pennsylvania, North Carolina, the 10th most populated state in America has 134 delegates up for grabs making the Tarheel State the last rich delegate state before the convention. A win in North Carolina is important because who ever wins North Carolina will have the last big momentum push into the convention. Currently Obama leads in North Carolina. The state has mixed demograpics in terms of the economy. Eastern North Carolina has been hard hit where as the central part of the state where the urban centers are seem to be prospering, especially Charlotte. There are alot of big universities in the state which favors Obama and there are is a large population of "upscale" democrats in areas like Charlotte, Raleigh/Durham and parts of the Greensboro area. Whats interesting is that North Carolina has a fast growing latino population yet Obama is still leading. North Carolina will play a big role in who becomes the nominee and it could be the final push that gives Obama a clear edge to become the nominee.

Not so fast, dont get ahead of yourself. Michigan and Florida is looking like the choosers of this major historically election.

Don't think Michigan and Florida will make a difference either. It may bring Hillary a little closer to Obama, but thats about it.

It might put the nomination out of thier's reach before the convention. That seems more and more likely.

I can understand why a newspaper based here in the Triangle would publish the article, but I do disagree for several reasons.

Let's assume, as expected, Obama pulls out a win, though not by a big margin. If that's the case, Hillary still has a very good shot at Pennsylvania on April 22 before the primary, which will probably give her a bump here and at least hold onto a respectable loss. Indiana votes the same day as the primary here in NC, another state with very favorable demographics for Hillary. The headlines the next day may very well be, Obama takes NC while Hillary takes Indiana. Following NC and Indiana, then there's West Virginia and then Kentucky, two other big fairly significant states that Hillary should do very well. Oregon votes the same day as Kentucky with a primary, and that very well may go in Clinton's favor also. Throw in Michigan and Florida sometime in June which is sounding more likely by the day, followed by the fact that all the caucus states are over. It's quite possible that NC is an Obama win in a flurry of Hillary victories and momentum heading into the convention.

Don't be so sure that if Michigan were to have another shot at it that Hillbilly would win it. I live here and as I said before in my county, which is one of the higher populated ones in the state, the uncommitted beat her in the January primary. Don't forget Wayne County (and Detroit) which has a heavy black population.

North Carolina will seal the deal. Hillary's done. Florida & Michigan will add icing to the cake. (Don't forget the overall count goes up as well, it will not stay at 2025) If you look at the current pattern Hillary is always ahead, then Obama visits, impedes upon her "branding" through personal touch, folks realize he's real and he wins. And wins. And wins.

If nothing else we have been extremely gracious to Losers this year, we are becoming a much more civilized, nice, Nation.

yea and if they revote or caucus its only going to close the gap so a revote benefits Obama rather than counting the current votes....that wont happen because Obama didnt even have his name on the ballet in Michigan. These two states wont make a difference....North Carolina will give Obama that final big momentum into the convention.
