Yes, Hillary has a way of sowing distrust. Maybe because she's smart and clever, and that makes one distrust what she says, and what her real agenda is; Obama, on the other hand, has an openness about him which seems refreshing in contrast, but he seems naive, and that's really scary.
By the way, I heard today that Oprah left that church back in the early 90's because she didn't like what she was hearing there. Interesting that Obama stayed and says he didn't hear anything that he thought was out of line. Yet, Oprah backs Obama. So, maybe the kind of associations and close personal friendships one has don't matter after all, 'cause Oprah can't be wrong.
Maybe Obama stayed not for any anti-white sentiment, after all he was raised by his white relatives, maybe he was trying to gain some insight into black America.
I know you Hillary supporters wish to paint Obama as some rabid hater of white people -- but you seem to forget he is actually half white himself.

I certainly would hope that this church is not representative of black America.
same message as all white southern evangelical baptist church: the minorities and blacks and jews are running the government, ruining our lives, bringing on the wrath of god as was on Sodom

The wrath of God is a common theme in the Old Testament -- the Book of Isaiah. Many Christian churches still preach that nations or people as a whole are punished by God.
Many churches have gotten away from that kind of preaching but a lot of people are not exactly shocked by this revelation.

Absoutely not. It seems though that many people think that it is. I've seen a few threads on this board that basically say I didn't know black churches were like that. Critical thinking needs to be applied in these situations. I'm glad that some people do realize that black people & churches can't be lumped together in 1 group.

I work in Detroit and have been discussing this subject with MANY black people. They have told me that at least half the churches they have been to/belong to preach exactly as Reverend Jeremiah Wright does.
Black churches are a hot topic up here not only because of Wright but because if all the scandals with Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and the blacks I talk to are laughing at him and his Pastor. Detroit's been having in-depth discussions about Black Churches and their Pastors and views for the past few months, not just a couple of weeks.
So if you think I made up that first statement, all you have to do is research a little...from radio broadcasts, newspaper articles, blogs, any media resources...check the facts I stated for yourself.

Now *that* sounds like hate speech to me - hatred of minorities, blacks and jews. Hitler spewed stuff like that and we know what that led to. Never again, and not *any* group, not ever.
"all" white southern evangelical baptist churches? You have been to all of them?
What nonsense. I've been in many churches, and never heard talk about minorities or blacks or Jews portrayed that way.

I don't have to do any research on this subject because I know...
I've been to many black churches personally and I have not seen any of these types of sermons.
Are they energectic and lively? YES
Are there sermons like Rev. Wrights? NO
Again this is from my PERSONAL experiences, not coming from me asking questions from my friends.

Good to see someone post who thinks and is reasonable. Nice.
