They have lost power in the 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016 so they didn't learn anything from those losses and they obviously haven't accepted the result of the last election and their childish behavior at the SOTU was a disgrace. Obviously, having more money doesn't mean a party is going to win more elections (i.e. 2016 election).
As for Democrats being broke: I dont think it matters if they had a trillion dollars; they have no platform to run on, other than hate.
I don't agree, the Democrats were appealing to a diverse constituency of minorities, without a clear cohesive, positive vision, that left them trapped and put them at the mercy of Trump's coalition of the rich and powerful and the elements of the old working class, whom the Democrats had abandoned.
As for the hatred. I think that is equally shared by the supporters of both parties and both sides of the press.

Add that to the dismal prospects of fighting an uphill battle with the Trump admin, their complete lack of any positive message or plan other than hate Trump, and their apparent flippant attitude towards America.
They are in trouble on an epic level.
