McCAIN: We’ve been in South Korea … we’ve been in Japan for 60 years. We’ve been in South Korea 50 years or so. That would be fine with me. As long as Americans …
He specifically mentions South Korea and Japan where we HAVE a military presence-not just embassies.

You have to remember that Bush has removed all dissenters from around him. There was plenty of military opposition to the war, and to how it was planned and implemented.
Remember Shinseki? The difference would be that Obama would listen to all points of view, not just the ones that agreed with him.

I love how your post goes from the idea that Obama would "seek the advice of military experts" to having the decisions be "left up to the military experts" in the very next sentence! And these are your words!

Would that have been 10/11/02?

Ya know, snake, this has been my question each time I hear this rhetoric.
I know this won't put it to rest but, perhaps this may help a few. First the congressmen: http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2002/roll455.xml
The senate: U.S. Senate: Legislation & Records Home > Votes > Roll Call Vote

We've been in Japan for 63 years so far. 53 years in Korea.

It's not a such a far-fetched idea.

Thats my point. Sure we will have a presence in Iraq for years to come but for people to insinuate that McCain meant we would be in Iraq for 100 years in the capacity we are today is absurd.
