Then the GOP should try not to have so many Republican politicians thrown out of office and leave vacancies

I must admit I see no reason why Gov. Walker has been putting off these elections. However, I also have a question for you Jams as well as all the other Democrats out there who are hoping for a big "blue" victory in the coming elections. And that question is: Why? What do you actually think is going to change if the majority color in D.C. changes from red to blue? Other than the team you support being sort of in charge again. Neither of these parties, the Dems or the Repubs, seem to give a damn about what most people in this country really want. They each simply pander to certain groups, and say what we want to hear, so that they get their few years to further their own ambitions and goals. I mean look, I get it, this is how it's been since far before I was born, and I don't see an end in site. But what I am seeing more and more of every year of my life is the truth, which is that our current system really doesn't seem to work, and our representatives really don't give a damn about what we want. And that goes for both sides of the aisle and everywhere in between.

****This question applies to the supporters of the red as well. Do any of you feel like you are really being represented anymore? Or are you simply being led by people who happen to be aligned with the party you support? Are you maybe noticing your party might not be your party anymore?

I live in one of these districts. Why should I have to go more than a year without representation? Democracy is never a waste of time or money.

so what is the state rules/laws about vacant positions... I am seriously asking

here in NY the governor can appoint temporary replacements till the next election to fill the vacancy

considering the normal rules about candidacies like getting enough people to sign a petition to get you in the polls, etc
https://www.elections.ny.gov/RunningOffice.html
...I don't see the logistical logic of a judge setting a drop dead date of 29 mar.. its irrational... it would be nearly logistically impossible to get two valid candidates for running in that time

The judge's order is that Walker call for an election by March 29, not have an election by that date.

Wisconsin law requires a special election: https://ballotpedia.org/How_vacancie...e_legislatures

In NY it also depends on when the vacancy occurs. For example, last year when Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto resigned after his indictment, the Oyster Bay Town Board appointed Assemblyman Joe Saladino to fill the rest of his term. A Special Election was held to fill the remainder of the term in Saladino's Assembly seat.
