How can that be true when every single president in the entire history of this country has been male, whether Democratic or Republican?

Any women will be framed negatively and so will the party that nominates her. And Republicans can say they support a female president but they will never actually nominate and elect one. Talk is cheap.

Trump's base loves the way Trump has openly cheated on his wives and bragged about grabbing women. They think it makes him seem more virile. They don't mind the porn star stories at all. We need this generation to pass before a woman is again considered viable, it wouldn't matter how accomplished she is.

Sherrod Brown? Sure, fine. Just make it a white male that is less offensive than Trump. That includes most white males.
Respectfully disagree, Hillary was shady and had years of problems true or made up weighing her down. I have always maintained if she said something along the lines of "Yes I have a server because it is not EXPLICITLY against the law to have one but since it is frowned upon I will work with the right people to make sure nothing was compromised" it would've killed the story right away. Instead she tried to deflect, distract and as all democrats do, let the opposition control the narrative and not fight back and it cost her, but lack of viable options left the democrats stuck with her.

If a woman enters and goes to the debates and wins over the primary voters, so be it what I am against was doing everything possible to make sure it the nomination goes to a woman, discouraging opponents, debates on Saturday night where very few will watch, i.e. how Clinton got the Nod.

Like it or not, People liked Bernie's ideas but did not want the inevitable massive tax hikes that came with it. plus he was never a democrat until 2016 and is still considered an independent in the senate, right now, so why give the democratic nomination to someone who isn't even a democrat? that was a contributing factor to his loss

Trumps base will always be his base but he will need more than that to win again.

The Left is doing an amazing job of eroding away at his Presidency but in the end if they put up another questionable character like they did in Hillary, Trump will win again.

Trump is a rocking boat in a turbulent world but guess what we are still afloat and will be with him as captain but from what the Left has been digging in on such as open borders, amnesty, limiting gun rights and gun bans there are many passengers on the SS America that see this fine ship being dashed on the rocks with a liberal at the helm.

2020 will certainly be a tough election but if the economy is moving along I see Trump winning again.
All this never ending grinding nonsense with Russia and Stormy is only serving to bolster his base and make the independents see the hypocrisy of the Left.

Contrary to GOP belief Trump has been riding a good economy since he came into office. Obama had 75 straight months of job growth and he inherited an economy in meltdown.
The dow was under 8000 when Obama took office and just over 13000 the day he got relected and was just under 20,000 when Trump took office.

Fair or not the presidents first year he is working with the budget of his predecessor.
I'll make it simple.

The economy does not exist in a vacuum just under 8000 to just over 13000 is a huge improvement.
Yes the market is high now but there is a fear of a trade war, if it drops to levels when Trump took office on election day 2 1/2 years from now (a lifetime in politics) it may not help.
I agree with you on North Korea. He could get nice bump if he is successful in diffusing that situation, but I'm not sure it will be enough to save his Presidency. People rallied around President Bush after 9/11 yet he only barely won the 2004 election and it was the gay marriage issue that won it for him, not 9/11 or the War on Terror.

The economy however is a result of Obama's policies and Trump is doing everything he can to hasten the arrival of the next recession. We are actually already due for it and we'll be lucky if we aren't in full-fledged recession by the 2020 election.

I can't think of any candidate, not even Trump supporters' "wet dream" candidates like Elizabeth Warren, that is more toxic than Hillary. Hillary has been the right-wing's boogeyman since the '90s and she is hated on the left for her war-mongering and neo-conservative sympathies. Add to that the perception, right or wrong, that she is dishonest and corrupt. Trump would have lost to anyone else. With that said, most people who voted for Trump reluctantly are unlikely to return. I think it's really telling that Trump supporters, since they cannot defend his record, are pinning all their hopes on the idea that Democrats will nominate another Hillary and people will hold their nose and vote Trump again.

It will come down to the Democrat candidate. If the person is amazing then he or she has a chance to win. If it is a candidate like Hillary that promises to push more of the far Left liberal agenda the election will be a battle.
The thing is the Left has been campaigning since day 2 of Trumps nomination when they began the Russian collusion theory. Trump has been pretty much cleared by Mueller at this time but when it is reported by the likes of CNN they wrap up the report by saying "the investigation is ongoing" .
It keeps people guessing and I suspect they will keep it up until Nov. 2020.

I like Trump enough to vote for him again. I am registered independent and with all the garbage that the Left has been slinging and rooting in I don't see myself ever voting for a Democrat again.

I might have to hold my nose but I believe the Left will hurt America the next time they are in power.

Sadly - Democrats probably need to nominate the thing that doesn't upset flyover country - a while male. He doesn't need to be a good husband, he doesn't need to be honest, he can even brag about grabbing women, but he needs to be a while male. That in itself would weaken Trump's base.

Don't you Liberals ever get tired of playing the race card? You guys have lost elections nationally the past couple of years because you guys just cannot give that card up. Clinton did not lose cause she was a woman. Clinton lost because of the deleted emails, the deaths in Benghazi, The Clinton Foundation and stiffing money, calling Trump voters basket of deplorables, etc. I could go on and on, but I think you get the picture. And, I really don't think that you should be criticizing Trump over his groping comment, when Bill Clinton lied under Oath to the American People about getting a blowjob in the Oval Office, cheating on his wife as well. It's funny you Democrats only blame Republicans, when you guys have Al Franken, Joe Biden, Bill Clinton, who are all predators as well. Get a grip and realize why you guys are losing elections.

His "cater to the base" strategy is puzzling. If he wanted to increase his reelection chances he should be moving to the center to capture those independents you were referring to.

Once again, Popular Vote doesn't mean squat in elections. No one wants Los Angeles, California deciding the President for the rest of the country. Hate to burst your bubble.

Democrats have never claimed to be the party of "Christian values" and aren't known for trying to force religious piety on everyone. Republicans need to be held to a higher standard because its them who insist on beating everyone over the head with a Bible.

People who live in Los Angeles are every bit as American as people from Poteau, Oklahoma. One of the most offensive things is the fact that you right-wingers act like only white fundamentalist Christians who live in flyover country are "real Americans."
