Republicans desperately dumped a ton of money into the Arizona race, and the seat still swung 32 points toward Democrats.
Republicans won this battle. But the numbers make very clear that they are losing the war.

Looks like a "BLUE WAVE" to me, here's even more good news~Dems flip New York state seat that Republicans have held for nearly four decades
Democrats in New York flipped a New York Assembly seat on Tuesday, winning a seat that has been in GOP hands for nearly four decades.
Democrat Steve Stern, a former Suffolk County legislator, beat out Janet Smitelli (R) for AD-10, a Long Island seat, with 59 percent of the vote, according to Daily Kos.

Republicans in the reddest of districts are in for a fight. They’re going to lose control of the House.

Get a copy of Peter Schweitzer's new book, Secret Empires, and learn how politicians, their families and friends get rich doing perfectly legal, if unethical, things. Bipartisan. A bit disheartening.

Why would something like that get the attention of people with blinders on?

LOL, that "war chest" sure hasn't been much of a help in stopping the BLUE WAVE though, has it?

Nate Silver of 538 has it as a 20 point swing towards Democrats:

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features...ection-result/

Regardless, it is a sobering thought for the Republican party that they felt they had to outspend the Democratic candidate by a 5 to 1 ratio to keep a 'deep red' seat; not only that, but for a seat that will again be up for grabs this coming November. I do think the R's are favored to keep the seat come November, since more voters will turn out, and this district has many more R's than D's.

We must also recall that the Republican candidate for this special election, Ms. Lesko, was a veteran lawmaker in Arizona, whereas her Democratic opponent was a newcomer. We cannot know if President Trump's 'robocalls' helped Ms. Lesko, or hindered her.

I had read an article the other day (no link, for I can't recall where), that noted that the Tax Reform Act is not helping the Republicans as much as they had hoped for. The article noted that the Republican-held House and Senate have nothing major in the pipeline for them to pass and hold up for voters approval in November as proof that they are the better party to hold power. The article noted that Senator McConnell has decided to focus on getting the President's judicial nominees seated (with the implication that he suspects that come January 2019 such a process will come to a screaming halt).

I suppose that the Republicans are hoping that President Trump will come through with some foreign policy achievements, such as with North Korea, that they can run on for November.

Good luck with that.
