...And of course it is much more fun to throw rocks and call for stoning the Evil Republican rather than to acknowledge this quote:

The Dallas Morning News noted Cunningham said he has changed his views on interracial marriage since he set up the trust in 2010.

..So it's a non story.
But don't let that stop anyone.

Acknowledge that you were wrong. You stated "only in the GOP." But the Spike Lee quote shows that this kind of racism exists in both parties. Not surprised that you're not willing to own your own post.

He lost the election I think. By a very slim margin - 25 votes.

Yes, he did lose:

So OP cites a failed county commission candidate, who says that he has since changed his views on inter-racial marriage and uses that to broad-brush slime the entire GOP ("only in the GOP"). Then I counter by citing Spike Lee, who opposed inter-racial dating, and has been a prominent, nationally-known Democrat fundraiser. OP says that's "irrelevant." Not only is that illogical, it shows that OP is either in abject denial, or is disingenuous.

All this whole kerfuffle shows is avoiding using inter-racial marriage as a campaign issue is probably a smart thing to do.
