Actually - the results of Nov 2018 can result in the "second place finisher" being the winner.

Gerrymandering.

There might be more votes for Democratic candidates for the House and the Democrat STILL come up short:

2012: Dems 59.6M votes to Reps 58.2M votes; yet Republicans held the House 234-201
1996: Dems 43.5M votes to Reps 43.4M votes; yet Republicans held the House 226-207

I guess my point is that even the House, which is designed to literally represent the people is still subject to similar problems as the Electoral College. The thumb is on the scale due to gerrymandering. Look at 2012 for example. How is it that with 50.5% of the support of the nation, a party only holds 46.2% of the seats?

So while gmagoo is correct that midterms aren't decided by state vote totals... the problem is merely shifted. There are wasted votes everywhere. And gerrymandering forces the issue by having less representation than the people actually vote for.

I'm fine with the Senate - that's how it was designed. Two Senators per state. But the fact that there is such a great disparity between the will of the people and their (mis)representation in Congress is abhorrent.

And that doesn't even begin to get into Hillary's lack of morality, corruptness, etc.
You really must not be looking, but Trump is morally corrupt in every way. Not only that he has cheated so many contractors, he is now is trying to become the autocratic president we have never had before. Hillary is an angel next to Trump. You made the wrong (bad) choice when you chose Trump over Hillary. We would not be in the world-wide messes Trump has gotten us into if Hillary were our President instead.

That's the feeble excuse all Trump voters I know seem to use: "Well, at least it's not Hillary." WRONG. Trump will take this country down, sooner rather than later.

Thread title is false and delusional.

Dems are ahead by about 7 currently in the generic ballot poll.

In fairness to the OP, when the thread was started, the thread title was accurate as per the results of the Reuter's polling for that time period.

It may have been an anomaly, but it was neither false nor delusional.

That poll was clearly an outlier, as they have never been ahead in the average. So the general conclusion "Republicans are now ahead" was indeed false including at that time.

Means nothing to Trump supporters. Polls are fake, unless its a poll they like that shows them in a positive light. Then it's real and represents the true way most Americans feel.

What did your polls do for you in 2016?

Nate Silver is fake, according to his 2016 swing state predictions.

So, a woman who's husband lied under oath about receiving oral sex in the white house, or stiffing donated money from The Clinton Foundation so her and her husband can live large, a woman who got a man who raped a 12 year old girl off trial and was heard laughing about it, a woman who deleted over 33,000 emails, who is responsible for the deaths of 4 american soldiers in Benghazi, yeah Trump is soooo bad.

Tell us about the polls that gave Hillary a 98% chance of victory in November 2016?
