He beat another communist candidate and is pretty much a shoo in since Democrats dominate Hawaiian politics.

But saying he is a conservative Democrat is not saying he is a conservative
Don't get your hopes up
Once he gets to Washington and sees how the GOP has no intention of cooperating with any Democratic agenda there won't be much cooperation to be done...
He was last in Congress in 07--he hasn't had to deal w/the Freedom Caucus

Honestly, given that this seat was going to be won by Democrats anyway, I'm just glad that a more "progressive," anti-Trump candidate like Doug Chin (current HI lieutenant governor who was the architect behind Hawaii's legal challenge to the travel ban) lost. I expect Chase to vote with Dems most of the time, but he'll have more common sense than Chin would've had.

Case is a former congressmen, he has a voting record.

His "ideology score" was a .28, putting him even with Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Andre Carson. That makes him about the 70th most liberal Democrat.

What is funny is that Pelosi is a .37 meaning she is less liberal than this guy is....... but oh well.

I saw the last name and location and wondered if he's related to the late attorney Dan Case, and his late son Dan (a prominent investment banker) and son Steve (the former CEO of AOL and former Chairman of AOL Time Warner), so I looked it up. Former Congressman Case is their cousin.
