I'm feeding horses right now, but will post the text of the article I referenced asap.
Gentrification does help people who live in those areas if they are not forced to sell/move because the city or other agency has exerted rights of eminent domain to make it happen
Gentrification is often just another name for big companies using leverage to make money but....
Gentrification can improve the safety of areas that are updated and taxes get a push upward because of heightened value of properties and often more commercial/retail investment happens...if there aren't too many tax rebates given...

If people were renters and their landlords chose to sell to developers--well that is disheartening but it is really free commerce in action--the American way
In Texas most people GOP or Dems believe in people's right to make money and our local governments are not as invested in providing low-cost housing for low-income residents...long or short term...

Many "natives" who live in areas for long periods of time are often people who need to have city services to help them make it through the day...
From what I have seen the GOP is not really going to help with that...

So while you might attack Beto because of something that happened more than 10 yrs ago that his family vs himself was more involved with, that is more esoteric than most voters care about

They usually have their own issues and want to know what a politician can do for THEM vs hear about something from a decade ago...
And you are right--that is one reason many people are not taking seriously crimes Manafort or Trump did in the past--
Because they are focused on the now...

MOST of Texas is not Cruz's target demographic
Texas IS about heart as much as heritage
That is why Beto went to EVERY county--big or small in size & populace
That is why Cruz is not a good match for the average Texan
Most of Texas' legal residents are Cruz's target demographic, Ted Cruz isn't trying to suck up to and represent the millions of illegal aliens who have come to Texas like Roberto does.

Heroic response to the question. I was impressed with the length and depth of his answer as well.

Beto has taken no PAC money for his campaign

You have slunk in from other political sites to spread some disinformation
Slink back please
Look, everyone knows who George Soros is, the extreme left-wing, "open borders," globalist kook whose "Open Society" network funds every other left-wing kook and extreme left-wing organizations, including the "hate group," Southern Poverty Law Center, that labels nearly every conservative organization, including the AFA, a "hate group."

Anyone funded by Soros is out of the same mold. You can bet they hold the same extremist views.

That just proves you are trying to push my buttons--or anyone who backs Beto...

Cruz and Beto are BOTH going after Texas's "legal" residents
Illegals in TX don't have much of a chance of voting...
You can thank our very conservative GOP ruled legislature for strict voter ID laws
So I don't think either one of them is worried about the ILLEGAL voters making a difference in the election...

They are both worried about the people who need to be motivated to get out and vote because Texas has a high rate of non-participation for ELIGIBLE voters
And Texas also has some history of trying to disenfranchise ELIGIBLE voters who are minorities and perceived as more likely to vote Democratic...

You would like people voting for Beto or GOP voters who don't like Cruz to believe that slur
But you can't prove it

I can't? Are you telling me you don't know who George Soros is, and what organizations he funds? He is the primary benefactor of both Wikipedia and the Southern Poverty Law Center, which is why Wikipedia cites the SPLC in their articles that slam "right-wingers" and conservative organizations. One hand washes the other.

The Center for American Progress, and there Blog, "Think Progress," is another Soros funded organization.
