But that happened due to the unpopularity of George W Bush and the Iraq war. Also a string of GOP congressional corruption scandals (Duke Cunningham, etc). I don't see anything comparable in 2018. I'm half-expecting an October surprise of some kind, from one side or the other, or maybe even both.
Also 31 is barely over half of 60.
You don’t think we have Congressional corruption scandals this time around?
Sounds like you forgot who brought us the great recession of 2008-2009 and what happened to the stock market under Obama after it bottomed in 2009. The same improving employment numbers under Obama that were called fake by the liar-in-laws chief and his supporters are now being praised. Ridiculous
who brought us the "great recession"... liberal policies...
when did the recession end...June 09...before any of Obama's policies even went into effect
Okay, I'll say it AGAIN: This would be a surprise, because.....?
Historically, there's a shift in the House at midterms. Add to that the fact that there's an opposing party in the WH, and that more current Republican reps are retiring or choosing not to run, and it spells an even greater change in the House (maybe both congressional chambers, too).
Yeah that could happen but Repubs are also motivated because we are finally getting decent governance. I've been saying for a long time that it's 50-50 on the Dims taking the House. Considering the built in polling and reporting bias, the "Blue Wave" is not so certain.
That's true. But again, given that midterms generally result in a change, I don't see that NOT happening in November. That, plus the huge number of Republican retirements make prospects look very favorable to Dems. And don't forget the redistricting.
Looks like it will "age" quite well. The final counts aren't done yet (lots of close elections).
The Democrats took 32 SO FAR, and there's 37 yet uncalled (if I counted right). Of those, Democrats look to take 34 of them. Assuming that is what the final count look like, the Democrats will pick up over 60 seats.
