I really do think Jeff Flake is trying to do all the things he thinks will play well for a presidential run. He knows Trump has become enemy number one with women, so he asks for the FBI investigation. He has directly opposed Trump in numerous ways, even though he mostly votes the way Trump wants him to. I can't help but think he's setting himself up for a presidential run. He's a Republican so - no - I wouldn't vote for him.

I was not sure where you were going with this, but are you saying you are so partisan, you'd never vote for someone because they were a (R), even if the (D) was a horrible candidate?

As to your speculation of him running against Trump, anyone can try, but he'd stand about no chance. Trump managed to beat some very qualified (R's) in the primary, most of them with much better credentials and chops than Flake.
If he had any chance at all, he blew it today as conservatives would never vote for him after him caving into the Democrats plan to delay this all along.

That's pathetic

So...you vote straight "D" like an automaton. You don't look at the republican opponent who, may actually be a RINO. You just dismiss him/her out of hand. Meanwhile, the democrat you vote for may well be a DINO. In that scenario, ironically enough, the RINO may be the one who better suits your political views.

It's really sad when people vote the straight party line without a single thought. Wow...just...wow.

I, OTOH, read up on where each candidate stands then decide which one will get my vote. Sometimes, it's the dem who gets my vote, sometimes it's the republican. I know---you can't believe it---but it is true.

I suppose he could be. There actually are republicans who very much dislike tRump. I even know a couple of them. If Flake did run, I'd certainly consider voting for him even if he ran as a republican. From everything I can tell, he seems to be an honorable man who is doing what he feels is right for the country, not just himself.

Unfortunately, I think it's impossible for Flake to get elected in the current political climate, although by 2020 who knows? If we still have a country by then, he might just pull such a feat off. I wish him well.

Long as he runs as a democrat. He tried to be republican but was neutered.
