Default Where did you get these 3 candidates from?

Looking at the American Elections from the outside, i cannot understand with the vast pool of good, honest potential candidates in the USA, that it has come down to three hopefulls that are all sadly unequipped to lead the country. I can see the poor American Citizens trying desperately to find reasons to vote for any of the candidates. I know that party alliegance will play a big part, but don't you wish that you could scrap this campaign and start again?

They were eliminated or sidelined early in the process. Take a look at the lobbyist contributions. They represent who made it to the top and who didn't. There is one example still in the race, Ron Paul.

This election? Try the last four election cycles, at a minimum! How we get the candidates we do, I really don't understand.
It is either because those truly qualified refuse to take their families down the mud slinging path of a presidential campaign. Colin Powell, for instance, refused to run for president (he would have gone instend of GWB) because his wife feared for his life, and I'm sure other reasons. Too bad, I can only imagine how things might have been different had he run.

OR

The Democratic and Republican machines already picked who would be running in their respected parties, and all the money and party support goes to those chosen few. How they get chosen? I would imagine a lot of promises in back rooms......

Please, Europe take note.....Even Americans aren't happy with the presidential candidates we have had for over twenty years. Most of the time people will tell you that voting for president has come down to who you hate/distrust the least. Sad.

Ron Paul has some great ideas. He seems to be as honest as they get. Only goes to show that running for office has nothing to do with what is really best for the country. It seems to depend on who has the most money and who can lie the most convincingly.
Everyone knows that what is promised in the campaign will be sidelined after the election. The favourite excuse is "The mess the last govt. left us in"

When the field was narrowed to the current three, my thinking was okay, time to pick our poison: Barack Hussein Obama, Hillary "Rob'em" Clinton, or Juan McAmnesty.

I think it's obvious, however, that McCain has the most potential of the three. When he earned the GOP nomination, I reasoned that there's really only three issues on which he is way off base, and if he comes around on those, he will be a very strong candidate:

Immigration. The sponsorship of an amnesty bill with Ted Kennedy was abominable. This is the issue on which I have the biggest beef with McCain; it isn't even close. However, it isn't as if BHO or HRC are offering any better solutions.

Global Warming. It's bunk and trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist is a waste of taxpayer money and a threat to our economy. However, McCain's fanaticism about this issue is nowhere near the level of BHO or HRC.

The Bush Tax Cuts. At first I took major issue with the fact that McCain voted against them. However, I am now on board with his reason for doing so -- a lack of accompanying spending cuts. Considering that he has now pledged to make the Bush tax cuts permanent, I don't have any reason to sweat him on this issue.

Really, if McCain would just get his s--- together on immigration and global warming, we'd have a VERY strong candidate on our hands. And if he would pick Romney as his veep, I would be legitimately pumped about his campaign.

I'm afraid to say that bad candidates is not just a American problem. Why don't we all just pick our local second hand car salesman and see how they do?

I could never understand why Romney was so hated. He is a governor and used to running a State. He is succesful in the Financial market and he wanted to stop the immigration. He walked talked and looked like the next President. People will say he is untrustworthy. Looking at the other three candidates i cannot see how they have ANY background in running the USA.
