This was not the expected and desired "wave" Democrats expected to take the house almost immediately, ending up with a huge majority;and at least challenge for the senate; plus control of a majority of states that had control at issue. It was more about claiming an overwhelming rejection of Trump policies than anything else. This did not happen. It was pretty well expected and known by everyone Democrats would take control of the house.

Pretty much the election was exactly what you would expect. Democrats win in a few concentrated large population centers and Republicans win pretty much everywhere else. Democrats took more of the mixed/toss up areas this time, because yes, a lot of people are sick of Trump (but a lot of people are also sick of Democrat antics), and because, in many cases, the Democrats simply had better candidates. At least in my home state republicans made some terrible choices and lost races they otherwise would not have. So, nothing dramatic happened, just pretty much what was expected. Nothing will change. In Washington the weenies will continue calling each other names and get nothing done. Some states will shift some policies maybe, but most will not get much done either.

It was not a victory for either party. There was no real blue wave and no real counter red wave. It was just business as usual, despite the media and pundits desperately trying to make it appear exciting and meaningful, so they can remain relevant.and the center of attention. .

Our government is crippled by vitriol and basically non-functional. Everything is just about who "wins" and nothing is about what is best for the people no matter which party is in control. All the politicians have become advocates rather than politicians and there is no compromise, so there is virtually nothing being done. Obviously one of Trumps primary moves so far has been to try to undo/eliminate everything Obama did. Sometimes on things that simply do not matter, but if Obama did it, Trump is gong to undo it. Someday there will be democrat control again and everything Trump does will be undone, then switch. I do not expect our government to be able to accomplish much of anything meaningful again my lifetime.

They would have found something already. It's what they do.

The "blue wave" was supposed to take the house and senate. It's more like a purple puddle.

More fact-free right-win drivel on City Data! Come for the lies, stay for the bigotry!

If righties were paying any attention, you'd have known that very few people were expecting the Senate to flip to the Democrats based on which Senate seats were in contest. That said, the reality is that the GOP lost the house and the governor position in several states. So, the facts speak of a clear disgust with Trump, which is something any person who cares about the facts should feel.

Long story short, righties, you lost last night, there are now some checks and balances on your dim-bulbed tyrant, and if you continue to support him, don't be shocked if you lose again and again in the future.

Of course the left wanted more, much more than they won last night. Your "blue wave" is basically the street flooding after a rain.

And in the words of a former president, Trump "has a pen and a phone." Those executive orders will come in handy now.

Go about 5 posts up and you'll see this little gem:

No you didn't. I seen it all over social media, the blue wave was for both the senate and the house as well as local jurisdictions and governorships.
You see what we are dealing with? He "seen" it all over social-freakin-media that the Dems thought the Blue Wave was about the Senate also. You can't make this stuff up. The false Facebook/Twitter memes are gospel and what's the truth for these people.

Rank and file Dems on social media did want a much bigger enchilada. And social media takes it's cues from the mainstream media, which is basically Democrats with press badges.

Trumpies can spin this however they want to make themselves feel better.

Investigations and restraints are coming, and no wall.
