Republicans and conservatives weren’t always anti-immigrant and the party of nativism, tribalism and an anti-multiculuralism brand of nationalism. In fact, this was a fringe concept up until recently. I think it was Palin who first really started to harness it in national politics in the 2008 campaign and it really began to snowball from there....although it had been dominating conservative radio for years leading up to that.

Look at Republicans like Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt.They are two of my most admired presidents in history. They both had a positive message focusing on the principles of the constitution, “We the People...” You get the picture. I want THAT party to come back.
