Why 53 is a good number ?
It takes Collins and Murkowski out of position when they appose Trump's agenda. It also takes out Romney as the spoiler. A position John McCain played and Romney, IMO, was looking forward to playing. All three could be a no vote and the V.P would break the tie in critical votes to make 51 needed for judge and cabinet appointments assuming democrats continue to block vote against the Trump agenda.

That "great pay-off" of which you speak, may cost our country dearly in the future. If we get saddled with enough right-wing judges, with social and political agendas and wealthy masters to serve, we might no longer be the "Home of the Free".

However, the declining political scene for the conservatives may weaken them. There may be several more republican senators who will join those who oppose the madness that Trump is trying to inflict on us. Those two or three "no" votes, may be joined by enough other republican senators, to block actions that they know would bring them down, in their next reelection attempts. Two years from now, far more republican senators will face reelection difficulties, than democrats. The Blue Wave might wash them out of office, if they don't engage in actions that serve the best interests of everyone in the country.

Again, about 47% of employed people pay no taxes. So yes, many (at least 47%) will have seen no change. Or you could also say that they received 100% tax cuts.

That's because the top 50 percent of income earners paid 97 percent of taxes.

It's best to have the house. Now we can lift the rocks and watch the cockroaches scatter.

It was a very propitious year to have a midterm for the Republicans. They got lucky by having only a few seats to defend in the Senate. The coming election cycles won’t be nearly as fortuitous. 20 Republicans will have to defend seats in 2020, and that’s gonna be a really bad year for the GOP in the Senate.

No need to manufacture... Mueller has been indicting Trump's cronies left and right and the circle is getting tighter around trump. That's why he refuses to testify under oath in front of Mueller....

Remind me, how many indictments for benghazi or the Hillary email scandal (which wasn't a biggie considering Ivanka just did the same thing)?

Accountable? hahahahahahahaha Which President was ever held accountable? It seems like the more one breaks their campaign promises the easier it is to get elected.

Good point. We took 25,000 casualties in Iraq looking for something we didn`t find and no one was held accountable.

No need to Manufacture anything. Trump surrounds himself with criminals and says he is draining the swamp. We will see what happens. Trump is a big windbag. Most of what he says are lies or flip flops just like he was when he was a LIBERAL Democrat and best friends with the Clintons.
