I'm hoping Beto runs. He's got a lot of support here and I think his ideas resonate with a lot of people outside of Texas as well. The conservatives here really loathe him which, in my opinion, is another good indicator of him being the right person for the job.

That's a pretty poor standard, but it is common. It's been that way since Jan 20, 1993, when Bill Clinton assumed office. Clinton's people - James Carville, especially - taught America that hatred is the pathway to the Oval Office and that you are not a good leader unless the other side hates you.

I didn't say it was the only standard but it certainly is a plus. "Icing on the cake", I believe, is the appropriate phrase to use here.
I think Amy Klobuchar's performance this midterm speaks for itself (see the map linked below). This is in a state that Clinton barely won two years ago, and in a region where Democrats need to perform much better than in 2016. She has a prosecutor background prior to serving in the Senate, no scandals and is a highly service oriented problem solver. I think if nominated and she chooses a competent younger male from another region as her running mate (maybe Beto), they would be a powerful contrast to the Republican ticket.
I'm just curious to see initial thoughts on who you would like to see as the democratic nominee?
Polls currently show Joe Biden and Bernie as the top 2, but I'm skeptical personally and think a lot of that is down purely to name recognition. UK Betting odds and websites like Predictit actually have Kamala Harris and Beto O'Rourke as the top 2 at the moment.
Its early days of course, and you may change your opinion, but who are you leaning towards as of now coming into 2019?
I'm putting a poll up based on the top 8 candidates from the predictit market.
The only one on that list who stands a little more than a snow ball's chance in hell in beating Trump is Beto O'Rouke. And that is by a long shot.
The fact that he was unable to beat lying Ted Cruz in an election where he had Hillary Clinton levels of backing (money, Hollywood, 100% MSM) doesn't speak well of his chances of winning back ANY battleground state, and that is what he must do to take it from Trump.
And it's going to be tough for him to score the nomination. There are large elements of today's Democrat party, who are absolutely opposed to handing it to another straight White male. A lot will depend upon whether the DNC allows it to be a true primary, or they rig it so that only one person can win, like they did with Hillary.
Pocahontas? Never going to happen. She ended her career when she released those DNA results and claimed it proved she was a Cherokee. It had to be one of the most colossal political blunders in modern history. She's done at the national level.
