There are lots of viable candidates at this point, most of which would be perfectly suitable opponents to Trump. My dog would be a suitable opponent to Trump. Beto, Biden, Sanders, Harris would all be able to beat Trump I'd think. Unless there is some shenanigans going on (which I haven't ruled out), Trump shouldn't have an easy re-election. What actual accomplishments can he take credit for? Cutting taxes? cutting regulations? Let's see him actually run on that stuff come 2020...
It's true that Trump seems to defy the laws of gravity when it comes to politics, but I think that's more due to us being disoriented by it at first. Once the novelty wears off, I assume that Dems will have the wind at their back in the next election. In regard to the primary being a negative instead of a positive.. I just think it's up to the DNC to coach their candidates. "Look - If you're running on the Democratic ticket, then you have to support our platform, and whenever attacking your opponent, you have to preface it with your support for them over the President. This is mandatory. Otherwise, you can run as an Independent. " Seems simple enough to me. As long as all the candidates play nice, I see it as a positive to have a public contest of ideas before running for the office.

Trump won the 2016 election because of these things.....
Jobs vs outsourcing
Illegal immigration
Unnecessary Wars of Choice
Crony Capitalism by career politicians
Inner city crime
Islamic Terrorism
I said this over and over while the Democrats here bleated about Blue Walls. This is what will be important in the next election too. And yes, Trump will have to run on this record. Thing is, he beats everyone of those Democrats on these issues. And THAT is why he will be re-elected.
I do not know, my best guess would be Warren. If she can be a fake Indian she could pull off being a fake SJW type.
Warren is not a serious candidate. And anyone who thinks she can rally the Maxine Waters/Sheila Jackson Lee wing of the party, has not been paying attention.
Jay Inslee, the Democratic governor of Washington state, has entered the 2020 presidential race. And he’s betting his candidacy on the idea that Americans care enough about the existential threat of our time — climate change — to elect a president with a laser-like, almost singular focus on that issue.
Work with me for a minute, will you? Let's try to put together a list of main campaign themes that these Democrat candidates could plausibly run on this time. Of course they will probably support more than one, but usually an effective candidacy has some sort of central theme that unites the campaign and its message. So, here is my first crack at such a list for the Democrats:
1. Trump hatred
2. Socialism (Medicare for all, free college, living wage, more free stuff)
3. "Identity politics" and "Political correctness" (Open promotion and celebration of racism, sexism, etc.)
4. Globalism vs nationalism (Open borders, multinational agreements, WTO, United Nations, etc.)
5. Climate change
6. Washington outsider (Washington is corrupt and broken, need someone completely untouched by it to fix it)
7. Mature adult, for a change (Stay focused on the issues, be nice, don't get involved in the food fight)
Maybe you would break this down differently. What do you think the primary main campaign themes for the Democrats are this time?

Haha
He should go visit Emmanuel Macron to see how that's working out for him.
UGH what a rogues gallery filled with Far Left extremists and not to mention what the Dems used to be opposed to, the rich old angry white guy...
The Dems are still working hard to destroy Trump and sap from his supporters by making them out to be a bunch of racist deplorables which means that we will probably be looking at a Democrat win in 2020 and then given the front runners on your list OP LORD HELP US!
Better to be clowns than schoolyard bullies.
