The point was Sen Harris has that same, “He’ll step in it.” sense about her candidacy. Yet you burnt a lot of brain cells spewing your own bile about President Trump’s unlikeability. News flash; nothing new about that

In 1988, G.H.W. Bush received 53% of the popular vote and won a popular vote margin of over 7 million votes over Michael Dukakis while winning the Electoral College by 426 to 111. Bush carried California by 4% points and 350,000 votes. He carried 4 of the 6 states in New England and only lost 4 states that weren’t on a coast (Iowa, Minnesota, West Virginia and Wisconsin). In addition to Michigan and Pennsylvania, he won Connecticut, Illinois, Nevada, New Hampshire, Maine, New Jersey, Illinois, Vermont, Virginia and Colorado.

In the 7 Presidential Elections since, the Republican nominee won the national popular vote 1 time. That was in 2004, when George W. Bush received 50.73% of the popular vote and a popular vote margin of 3 million over John Kerry. The electoral college margin for Dubya was (286-251), decided by the race in Ohio, where Bush won by 118,000 or 2%.

The electorate gets less like 1988 with every POTUS cycle. For better or worse, we won’t see it again.

It may not matter that much who the Democrats nominate in 2020. There was a recent poll by Marist that found that 57% of respondents nationally stated that they would definitely not vote for Trump’s re-election under any circumstances.

If that’s remotely true, finding an acceptable alternative is a pretty low bar.

She hung herself trying to grandstand at the Kavanaugh hearings. Some people still believe in playing fair and innocent until proven guilty. It's clear she is not one of them.

Personally, I think Warren is soft because she got that DNA test, which gave credence to Individual 1’s childish insults. She should’ve ignored it all and stayed above the fray. She really turned me off with that entire display.

Back to Kamala Harris: I think she is very likeabale (whatever that matters), and I love her sincerity. Also, she’s super smart! Beto gives me the same feels.

Beto/Harris or Harris/Beto 2020
lol

It will not be good for America if one of these Far Left Progressives wins the election.
You can thank Obama for this. All the moderate Democrats were voted out after he came along.

She is starting too early. People have short attention spans and by the time the primary rolls around, she will be yesterday's news and there will be another flavor of the month candidate.

It's also a mistake to give the opposition (Dems and Reps) a lot of lead time to dig up the dirt on her. Also too much time for her to make mistakes.

I remember hearing this said about a certain unlikeable reality show host 3 years ago.

Will 2020 be the year when we elect a woman at last?

Who knows?

But I think any woman's chances are better than zero right now. A lot of them seem to think their chances are better than zero too.

Great points. The Democrats think that because Obama won, they can run every "minority" candidate using the same strategy. WRONG. Obama did not win because he was black. Obama won because people believed he would bring change. He just happened to be black. It's like the Dem strategy is, "Well, since a black man won...ANYONE can win!" That is racist in and of itself. Dems' strategy under Obama is now going to cause them to lose. YOU DIDN'T SHOOT YOUR SHOT DEMS. YOU DID NOTHING FOR THE PEOPLE WHO GAVE YOU OBAMA'S WIN. THOSE PEOPLE SEE YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE AND WILL NOT FALL FOR IT AGAIN.

I don't know how many ways I can say it. Dems are stupid and deserve to lose if they keep this up.

How many is that now and how many more to come in the next few months? I thought the GOP campaign in 2016 was crowded. that was a joke compared to what we might see this time around?

Right wingers in here deluding themselves by saying Harris can't win. I'm not predicting she will win the presidency, but I do think she's a top tier candidate. Reasons:

  • She is a social liberal but more centrist on economic issues. She is more measured in policy matters and is a little to the right of Warren and Sanders.
  • She has a law enforcement background. This will be a plus in the eyes of middle-of-the-road voters, who will see that you can have a Democrat who is strong on security.
  • Her serious, adult, mature and presidential demeanor is exactly what 60%+ of the country wants right now. She is the antidote to the man-child Tantrum-Tweeter we have in office today.
  • She's got a really good chance of being the front-runner after the first primary in March 2020 because it will be California and a number of southern states, places where Warren and Sanders won't do so well.
Right wingers can call her Marxist and Socialist all day and stomp their feet, but the reality is, she's a solid candidate.

In her own words, she's an avowed racist.
