If the best they can do is a small rally on the Mexico border where mostly people carrying the Mexican flag show up, then they are in for a very very bad time over this election season.

The Democrats better call in someone who can at least hold some national presence like err...... Hillary. She's still all they have got.

Did Trump pay the usual $75 for an early show-up, and $50 (plus each got a made in China hat) for just the evening performance?

I don't know why Beto O'Rourke set himself up to do a rally the same night as President Trump.

He was destined to play second fiddle and have a minimal turnout. Pretty dumb move.

I think if the Presidential election were held tomorrow, Trump would easily be re-elected.

In 2020, it will all depend on the economy and how that is doing, in the fall of 2020. I guess that the Democrats wil nominate someone who is not as moderate as they could be, and Trump will beat 'em up in the debates.

Interesting perspective. I haven't heard many arguments that the debates helped Trump in 2016, despite him ultimately winning the election. Polls can be misleading but with his high disapproval rating they are certainly not suggesting he is on track for an easy re-election.

I would agree that the performance of the economy will be an extremely important factor - not just the official jobs numbers but whether people perceive they are getting ahead.

You are right, the polls are misleading. However Trump is polling higher now, than he ever did during the election. He's polling higher than Obama during his point in his first term. That's got to be very disconcerting for the Democrats. Then again they seem to be oblivious to the perilous nature of their support.

Meh.
No one can count heads worth a hoot these days. Back in 2010, all the reporters said there was a crowd of well over 200 at a local rally, and after looking and counting heads on all the reports, I never counted more than 80, and that was the only one that showed a 360º view of the crowd.

Any head count is only a moment in time. In an indoor rally, the crowd is more likely to stay put, but in an outdoor rally, folks come and go a lot more. So on the outdoor rally I counted, I'm pretty sure the crowd could have been larger in a few minutes, or smaller.

Counting any rally toward the end, rather in the middle, would most likely render a lower figure, just as counting too early would.

I don't trust anyone's crowd estimate anymore unless there's some hard evidence to back it up. Especially so with an event that's in the darkness of night.

How do I count? Like I learned how to count cattle. I use both hands with my fingers splayed out and count in 10s at a time. The splayed fingers help determine how many constitute 10. It's an old cowboy method.

Please link to the report or the tweet or the pigeon carrier where CBS said there were a few hundred people at the Trump rally. I know it must be there. I just want to see it for myself/"

Sure thing.
Police did not give official estimates on O'Rourke's crowd size, but it appeared to exceed 5,000, in contrast to Trump's estimate of a few hundred.

Beto had somewhere between 7k and 10-14,000 depending who you want to quote. Apparently the police department gave one of the higher numbers.

It would appear to be a draw. Those are all pretty good numbers.
Well now, we don't want to get the FD into any trouble so we'll just leave it at that. 6,500. Okay.

Anyone who can't see that there were thousands outside must be products of the curriculum of fuzzy math.

Where are the thousands of Beto attendees photos? I'd like to see them.
