Default Is McCain the right commander in chief?

An old rusty loose cannon isn’t something you want in your arsenal of defense for the nation. Maybe the commander in chief needs to be a man of diplomacy?

Do we really want or need McCain with his finger on the button?

One of the arguments that I have heard against McCain is that he is too "liberal" of a Conservative. He has, at times, been able to "work both sides of the aisle." IF that is true, I would think that he is capable of diplomacy.

My two sons, both in the Navy, have told me that they are voting for McCain. That was a big surprise! To quote the oldest, "I sure as hell don't want my fate in the hands of someone that knows nothing of the hardships of war." I hope that's not the only reason that they are voting for him but, I guess it's better than voting for someone because the candidate is the antithesis of the current POTUS and nothing else to go on.

I didnt realise we had a candidate running that was a man of diplomacy.. Faced with the alternatives, there really isnt anyone else to vote for.

We are electing a President- not a General! Running the military is only PART of the job. Running the country is the other part.

McCain is too old. He has had one too many senior moments already.

This is something that probably worries me the most about McCain. I was looking over some footage from the 2000 cycle and his mental prowess seems to have diminished a bit. If I didn't know better (and I hope not) I would think he has early stages of Alzheimer's. He just doesn't seem quite all there.

I'm going to grit my teeth and vote for him..
Saying someone is "too old" is just as bad as saying someone is "too black" to be pres. We had some Senators serve into their 80's and up, McCain with Alzheimers is a better prospect to me than Obama..at worst we'll have 4 years of him doing little to nothing vs. some of these flawed Obama plans which will send this country on the express elevator to hell.

To be honest, I myself prefer someone a little longer in the tooth and likely a bit more wise. However, youthful or elder, some are just better leaders than others, and often we don't realize how good or bad they are until half way through their first term.

I watched a show not too long ago about Reagan's second term and it was enlightening and yet rather sad at the same time. I don't mean to simply pick on McCain because he is an elder statesmen, in fact I'm one of those Ron Paul bots and I think even Paul has a year on McCain. Using just those two as a comparison not on their content or ideas but how they conduct themselves and quid pro quo situations. McCain just seems like he has a delay while his mind digests what he just heard. To watch some of his stuff from back in 2000, he was damn sharp and on the ball and today he just seems to have lost that luster.
