By the time that Obama was nominated, he could have chosen Osama Bin Laden as his running mate and the MSM would have given him a free pass on it. He could do no wrong. They swept every thing that Biden did under the rug, and the idiotic McCain and hapless Romney didn't force the issue with their old friend.

Biden was chosen for one single reason. Obama needed a Forrest Gump as a running mate. And in that, Biden qualified.

Obama needed someone more seasoned than a freshman senator as his Veep. Biden fit the bill perfectly.
