Because they needed the support of the Southern States...in particular South Carolina. When they said all men are created equal, they had trouble with the Southern States. But as long as slavery wasn't outlawed, they would have their support. So while crying for their independence from England, and crying about how unfair they were being treated by the King, crying that the were second class citizens without their "inheritant English Rights", they never did anything to free the blacks!!!!They wrote all this stuff about how men are created equal, yet keep slaves and did some of the most horrific violation of human rights in the history of man. So Wright was saying the truth and he's some bad person. Why can't whites in this country accept our REAL history. Why do we deny the horrible and evil things that those folks commited against blacks? It's called GUILT! Can't stand for a black person to remind you of all the horrific actions of your ancestors and or our fore fathers. So the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution was written by a bunch of Hypocrits! And was written with ONLY THE WHITE MAN IN MIND!!!!!
Ohhhhh Pleeeaaaase! Put down the hyperbole; slavery has been around since the earliest of times. From the Egyptians to the Romans and throughout the 18th century. Some would argue forms of it exist today. Who knows; 500 years from now white Americans may be slaves to Asians. And while your recollection of historical fact appears to be accurate, you're missing the blending of idealism with political compromise.

Rev Wright is a dime a dozen pastor. What make him relevant is that Obama has chosen to listen to this guy for 20+ years and even today, refuses to put any distance between the two of them. All sorts of people are bitter; such is their right. Obama was supposed to be above all this. The candidate of real change and hope. This ongoing saga just paints him to many voters as a polished version of Al Sharpton; appealing to an ever shrinking cross section of voters.

I find it unbelievable that ANY SANE AMERICAN CITIZEN could try to defend the twisted racist vulgarity of Jerimiah Wright. Wright is clearly unbalanced and needs psychiatric help.

Like the Obama supporters I wish this would just go away but Wright keeps making a fool out of himself and embarassing Obama. Wright must love the limelight and creating controversy. Can you imagine your preacher using a FUNERAL to spout racial hate? That's just WHACK!

Wright eulogized Judge Pincham with endearing terms describing his goodness and acceptance of others.

Then he ranted into a bizzare ego tangent where he demonized anyone who dared to question his opinion. He went on to personally attack newsmen who had criticized his odd behavior and vulgarity in the recent past, among them the highly respected journalist Sean Hannity. He repeatedly called Hannity "stupid".

Earlier the deranged Wright made racial references to stir the mostly black crowd into a frenzy. "America’s founding fathers “planted slavery and white supremacy in the DNA of this republic,” and adding that Thomas Jefferson wrote, “ ‘God would punish America for the sin of slavery.’ I guess that makes Thomas Jefferson unpatriotic,” Wright's words did indeed incite the crowd into a shouting, dancing racially charged frenzy. Wright's words are reminesent of his good friend Nation of Islam and black seperatist Louis Farrakhan's "hate Whitey" speeches.

Wright may be the Albatross around Obama's neck. This may be the issue that cuases Obama to "jump the shark".

Wright won't go away. Obama would do well to have him committed to a mental institution. Then maybe he will just shut up!

People have the right to feel however they want. The black population has the right to feel angry about the history of slavery in this country. The white population also has a right to feel weary of being condemned for something they personally had nothing to do with and agree is wrong. Where does that get us?

You said a mouth full. I've posted this a million times in the past and I will continue to believe. We have to open our mind to understanding others that don't believe as we do.

What is WRONG with him? He has no respect for the dead when he turns a Funeral into a circus.

He's probably dillusional and psychotic. He thinks he is above reproach and can do no wrong. He is a sick sick man! Obama would do a service to his family to have him committed to a mental institution. He is a danger to himself and others.

OK, Open your mind while I tell you that making racially insensitive remarks at a funeral is not the normal thing for a pastor to do. Don't hand me the BS that it was taken out of context or that it was something the judge believed in. Those were Wright's words, not Pincham's.

Open your mind while I tell you that Wright's past behavior in a house of worship is troubling. He continually desecrates his altar and pulpit with vulgarity, racist statements and anti-Americanism. He does not preach the word of God and the salvation of Jesus Christ as he was called to do. He is a liar and a sham. I have listened to audios and videos that I personally ordered from Trinity Church of Christ. Most of what he "preaches" is placing blame on others for his and his parishoner's problems. His language is constantly filled with expletives and vulgarisms.

He suffers from dellusional grandeur. He sees himself as being above everyone else and beyond reproach. In his twisted way of thinking he can do anything he wants and say anything he wants because he is God-like in his element. It is a psychotic condition that if left untreated could cause him to harm someone .

He is indeed a sick person who needs help from mental professionals.

In last night's debate Rev. Wright again became the hot topic. This isn't going away. People are still appalled at the vicious racist attacks Wright made on Hillary Clinton in support of his friend Barack Hussein Obama. They are still appalled by the filthy vulgarisms and anti-American statements Wright screamed from his pulpit. Instead of preaching God's love and Jesus' salvation Wright blasphemed, cursed and blamed the United States!

In the debate last night Obama stood by Wright. He did not protest Wright's language or rhetoric at the time and sat there or stood and shouted "amen" and "yes lawd" at the racist, bigot!

Hillary said she would have walked out. That's what 99% of Christians surveyed said they would do.
