I think people will be sympathetic with Rev Wright. Certainly would be a plus for Obama.

I got most of this from Wikipedia, but it's information the media doesn't report.

In 1961, unlike Cheney or Bush, Rev. Wright gave up his student deferment and joined the Marines. In 1963, after two years of service, Wright then transferred to the United States Navy and entered the Corpsman School at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center, where he graduated as valedictorian.

Wright was then trained as a cardiopulmonary technician at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland where he graduated as salutatorian.Wright was assigned as part of the medical team charged with care of President Lyndon B. Johnson Before leaving the position in 1967, the White House awarded Wright three letters of commendation.

I don't know about anyone else, but he doesn't sound like a man who hates his country to me.

I think this guy is a narcissitic psychopathic egomaniac. He is already taking advantage of his 15 minutes of fame and is now going to exploit his recent 15 minutes to the next four years if Obama gets elected. Does anybody really care about black history, NOT! Do blacks care about white history, NOT! I don't know about the rest of you but I am certainly not interested in being bored by this crazy guy for the next 5 minutes. What an opportunist... he is not helping Obama at all. He is obviously very impressed with himself and thinks he is going to change the world... ho,ho,ho.

Have you watched his speech or are you content with basing your opinion on RW sound bites?

You can listen to most of the speech on YouTube.

I don't believe history is likely to repeat itself... but, we can't move forward when there are those who are stuck in the past.

Racism is not what any Reverend should be teaching from the pulpit ...

Rev. Wright's speech given today before the NCAAP is not yet available on YouTube. Perhaps you should withhold judgment until you see it. If not, then it's obvious where you are coming from anyway.

I care about Wright's service to this country. That means something to me. I love how sunshine patriots pick and choose what service matters. They supposedly respect veterans but they don't mind portraying one as a coward (Cleland 2002) or an unhinged lunatic (McCain 2000) when it serves their political purposes. They also supposedly care about things like honor, courage and duty and they get outraged when some people don't serve (Clinton) but they don't mind so much when others shirk their duties or famously "have other priorities". I don't agree with Wright on a lot of things (although I see exactly where he was coming from in the 9/11 speech.. that was a message that should have preached at that particular time in American history... Americans sorely needed and need a lesson in blowback) but I think he's earned a right to say them. I wonder what all of these people who criticize Wright as not being American enough have done to serve? What have they done to match Wright's demonstrated commitment to this nation? I'm curious. Many are very sanctimonious in their more-patriotic-than-thou attitudes; surely they've done more than just slap a GOP sticker on their cars to entitle themselves to their self righteous postures. Right?

Judgement has already been passed, and rightly so. He portrays himself as the victim of a smear campaign. Is he for real? We all heard his sermons about how he feels about white folk, the government, Jews, Italians and black separatism.

And also how he understands how Obama must say what he needs to say because he is a politician, JUST LIKE EVERY politician. Nothing new there.
