Hey i never rant or rave or stomp my "british feet". The health service in America is a shambles. i will soon have dual citizenship --USA/British so maybe i can stomp my anglo american feet. You are probably right that at the moment a UHC wouldn't work in the USA. But soon there will be new young minds in charge and they will not put up with the overpriced overated American health service. Unless there is some kind of disaster Obama should be the nominee. His healthcare plan as it stands will fail and then watch this space. America has one of the highest costing health care systems and it delivers the same quality of health care as in many poorer countries. As you could not come up with any facts regarding how poor the UHC in Hong Kong was compared to America i can only guess that it isn't worse than Americas health service. Obama says real change and real changes have to be made in the USA or it will remain a second rate expensive health care provider.

So you are in charge of INS. Looks like if Hillary gets in then UHC is on the cards.
If Obama gets in then All Americans will have the same Health care as you do Greatday. If they can't pay themselves then the Govt will pay it. You will still pay your own. McCain hasn't a hope of winning the election so his plan doesn't count. Not sure that he is sure of a plan. Whoever gets in there will be a change in the health system in America. Either UHC or Tax benefits to pay for the poorer citizens and govt to pay for unemployed to get health care. You are a albatros in your thinking Greatday and that became extinct. America is desperate for change and change is going to come.

I tend to agree with you geeoro. Healthcare is such an important issue,I may vote for Hillary or Obama because of that issue alone!
