I don't agree with paying for any of those things, including anothers health insurance.

If you and those who support such things feel so strongly, why don't you band together and start a healthcare co-op with your own money?

Why DO leftists always want to take others money to make things better???

LOL I'm not a leftist. It's so sad that the only way to get health care for all, which would be for the good of America is to form a co-op. Oh well as the infrastructure of America falls down around you and the health of the country gets sicker and sicker, you can feel proud of the billions you are paying to the private health companies and making life better for their CEO's.

I think the problem is not change it's the kinda change that brings on more socialism.

What makes you think we dont have managed healthcare now.
The government controls so much of out and those who are poor are on medicare.

For those of you who are against health care for profit.
Good luck finding the best doctors, best hositipals and care.

Can something be done to fix the problem, yes but government should do little, have less laws and People should work towards different types of Insurance. Medical break throughs and technology should be lowering the price in a Truly Free market which means the market isn't free and prices are rising for a different reason.

That's probably why your gp's give you the free drugs that the drug companies give them so that you can pay so much more by buying the same drug rather than buying the generic drugs which are exactly the same. The whole American health system is built on just profit. The doctors in America would love to be able to practice medicine without worrying about huge malpractice claims or being controlled by the hospital administrators. As Chris Rock once said " banks close on sunday otherwise no one would go to church" Money really is god in many minds in America.

Overt displays of wealth? You mean we weren't all walking around in sackcloth. Maybe our cars were too new? Whatever the display at least we all work for the common good. We pay for everyone to recieve healthcare without crying about it. We don't mind some of our money being used by other less fortunate brits. Maybe that was a covert display of wealth?

Default horror thoughts - i take great offense

well you should take into consideration the horrors of universal health care. only people who are healthy and young like this program because they dont have to use it. yes your taxes will go up just like France to unbearable rate, its not free. God forbid you need it, just wait and see if you only need to see your regular doctor you are fine but if you need a specialist which you need anything other than routine you are soooooooooooo screwed. I know people from Canada and guess what you are looking at 18 months to see one, so ask yourself should you have something life threatening tooooooo freakin bad, you die or like most you come to the states spend your money and get it done. Obama has done enough damange please dont do healthcare as well. Remember why its so high now, well its because of the illegals so get with the program and start closing those borders, which will free up emergency rooms etc. and prices go down. in LA county alone just LA we spend/pay for up to 1 billion dollars in support of health care, education, criminal court system etc. just on illegals. now couldnt we use that money for american citizens. Just go an google all the thousands and thousands of stories of people who arent perfectly healthy that needed a specialist and see what there stories are you will be shocked.

Not all meds have a generic equivalent. In fact, many do not. Of the five prescription meds I take, only two have generics.

I guess I'd take a Hillary./McCain hybrid. Force EVERYONE to get insurance and those who have good plans paid by their employer or union should pay tax on the value of the benefits. Its the only fair way to do it.

Everyone has "skin in the game" that way.
