Default Polarization of the Democrat Party

I was wondering how people thought of this polarization of the Democrat party. Is this good for the country or bad?

When people have complained about Bush creating a polarization among the people it was thought to be destroying our country. How is what is going on with the Democrats so different.

Will all be forgiven once they have their nominee or will it linger on?

Will this in the end cause such bad feelings that it will cause a lower voter turn out and favor the Republicans?

Will this affect how the new President will be able to work with Congress?

Just wondering.

This is an interesting question. The two candidates really do seem to have distinctly different bases, with very different agendas. In the past, when candidate A won over candidate B in the same party, it was easier to heal the rift since the differences were very small.

One could argue that the differences in policy may be small, but it seems that the makeup of the different constituiencies is vastly different and could almost point to two separate parties within a party.

political polarization has shown that since conservatives have taken over starting in the 80s with ronnie raygun, this country has gone downhill

It's great. Hopefully the rednecks will break from the Dems for good and form their own party, or just join the GOP like they really want to. The TRUE Democrats will make amends and rally behind the nominee, and we'll finally hold our heads up again.

I agree, progressives are real Democrats and the future. The party should be purged once and for all of the DLC, the Clintons and any rednecks still hanging around. Let them all become Republicans, that's basically what they are anyway.

I think it is a great and good thing.

The progressive (ie socialist)/liberal ideology needs to be defeated.

I am hoping for a fracture of the party that will last a generation, and with idiots like Dean in charge, I think I will get my wish.

But you realize that you will never win another election with the minority of the voters then? Now that would be something.

The fracture would be the lefty's/socialists/commies splintering off from the moderates and blue dog/conservative democrats who are tax cutters and strong on defense, and more likely to vote republican.

That would be excellent!
