Can someone with intelligence define the role of the President? What he can and can't do. I think there is a misconception on this forum regarding the power of the Presidency. Last I looked he was a leader with veto power. He can not make law (legislative branch), he can not interpret law (judicial branch). The most important skill of the President is to unite people, to bring people together.

That is why I don't understand why all the name-calling by the Democrats. You Hillary and Obama supporters will have to kiss and make up one way or another, especially when your leader asks you to. Can't you all just get along? If Obama wins the nomination and the Presidency you will have to for at least 4 years.

The Executive Office of President includes the White House, the Office of Vice President, the OMB (who works directly with the President in implementation and preparation of the budget) and the National Security Council.

As the Chief Executive he appoints a Cabinet whose role is to advise him on any matters where he seeks information - The Cabinet is composed of the heads of the 15 executive departments--the Secretaries of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Education, Energy, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Labor, State, Transportation, Treasury, Veterans Affairs, Homeland Security and the Attorney General. Additionally, during the Clinton administration, Cabinet-level rank was accorded to: the Chief of Staff to the President; the Director of Central Intelligence; the Chairman, Council of Economic Advisers; the Counselor to the President; the Administrator, Environmental Protection Agency; the Director, Federal Emergency Management Agency; the Director, Office of Management and Budget; the Director, Office of National Drug Control Policy; the Administrator, Small Business Administration; the U.S. Representative to the United Nations; and the U.S. Trade Representative.

In addition he is also Advised by the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the President also serves as Commander In Chief of all United States military forces deployed around the world.

Article II, section 1, of the U.S. Constitution provides that "[t]he executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his Office during the Term of four Years, . . . together with the Vice President, chosen for the same Term..." In addition to the powers set forth in the Constitution, federal law has conferred upon the President specific authority and responsibility covering a wide range of matters.

this isn't a presidential election. this is american idol. how do you think these clowns get to where they are? I'll give you a hint, a good supply of kneepads. I think that people are under the interpretation that the president can bring happiness. in the case of obama, it is a matter or what "poor" people will win. free health care? free housing? free gas? free cell phones? free internet access? after all, these are "human rights" aren't they?

But I thought the problem was the poor people don't vote for him. It's all those rich, well-educated elites?

So you are saying that Congress will align with Obama on all these freebies? Obama, if President, does not have the power to give away freebies.

I do agree that it has become more of an American Idol type competition and we all know what kind of fools vote for American Idol.

You're right, if you believe this board all of his supporters are young and educated. But reality is that it is the majority of the black voters that are pushing him through. And if I am not mistaken they are not all either young, educated, or rich. What you see on this board, thank God, is not an example of the real world, on both sides of the aisle.

That they will continue to be rich and the poor will continue to be poor?
Or maybe that he will be as ineffective as most Presidents and in 4 years everyone can get all excited to be let down once again?
