I can't imagine what the GOP bigwigs and the base must be doing whenever their nominee John McCain goes off on his very un-Republican activites. They must think this guy is a loose cannon or something. He scolded the North Carolina Republican party for attacking Barack Obama's association with Wright. He disowned that guy in Ohio who introduced McCain at a rally and then slurred Barack Obama by using his middle name Hussein. Now the Republicans must be pulling their hair with this:

Reminds me of Arnold Schwarzennager's relationship with the GOP in California-strained at best.

This is what makes this election fun to watch: the Republicans have nominated a candidate they absolutely hate. How screwed up is that?

He's got friends like Lieberman, Kennedy, Feingold. And he agrees our old pal, Al Gore, on climate change. It's going to be hilarious watching the RNC convention. I hope C-Span carries the implosion of both parties live.

And this is EXACTLY why Dems and moderate independents like myself can vote for him. He's not the GOP's typical robo-candidate.

I think most Independents are going to be hard pressed to support a candidate who's expertise is foreign policy, until asked a question.

I like McCain. He's about doing what he thinks is right. That Ohio guy really emphasized the "Hussein" and made an obvious comparison to Saddam in Iraq. Have you seen that video? Anyone with any type of intelligence would understand that they guy was totally trying draw comparisons between the U.S. Senator and former evil president of Iraq. And you thought nothing was wrong with this? Are you kidding me? Kudos to McCain for not being childish and hateful the way others are.

...or it could just be that McCain's lost his bearings.....he doesn't know whether he's a Republican or Democrat....

But of course it was wrong to emphasize Hussein in an attempt to slur Obama. That's not my point. What I'm saying is that from the point of view of the Republican right wing, John McCain is a loose cannon, and it must drive them nuts to have a nominee who does not move lock step with the party.
