.....this election would have been over a long time ago, and Barack Obama would be the hands-down winner.
I wonder what would happen if we passed a constitutional amendment allowing only those with a college education and higher the right to vote. Or for those who can't go to college for whatever reason, they should at least pass some kind of mental aptitude or intelligence test before being allowed to vote. Will our country be better off or worse off as a result? Would a presumably wise electorate produce a wise leader akin to Plato's philosopher-king?
I'm not necessarily advocating this.....I'm just wondering what the implications are of such a system.

If we could develop a pre test for each election based on what were identified as the ten most challenging problems we face we could develop a minimum base of understanding required to vote in that election. It is scary to think that our economic problems could have been in the hands of someone who prides themselves on being the candidate of the least educated and least financially able.

No. This would be fundamentally wrong. And I can say it no more eloquently than the hundreds who fought for the Civil Rights and Equal Treatment of citizens over the eons for all humankind.
I consider myself educated as I was always the smartest in my class. Still wouldn't vote for Obama. Does that make me uneducated? No it doesn't.
Ahhh....you've committed the fallacy of the consequent. Your fallacy is that you've transmogrified the statement "most educated voters vote for Obama" into "all educated voters vote for Obama". The former is a true statement (based on polling data), while the latter is obviously a false statement. But you've latched on to the latter statement as if that was what I was saying. Clearly, you need to check your faculties before responding.

You're insisting that Obama would win if only 'educated' people were allowed to vote. You're insisting that a high level of education would make the majority of people choose one candidate over another. That is simply false. You need to stop making subjective statements and passing them off as if they are absolute truth
