Funny, I have yet to meet a single Democrat that believes that. Or loves that. Wow.

We're going into debt over Iraq. It's not like we have that money sitting around that, oh goody, we can use it for domestic programs when the war is over! So, anyone who says we should take the money spent on Iraq and use it for stuff here, basically means we should go into more debt for more government giveaways.

Most of the money in Iraq is funded through resolutions and not the budget. You are absolutely right that it is not available for programs like health care, social securtity and medicare. That is unless someone wants to request money every six months to fund those programs. To put that money in the budget would be devestating.

Congress enacts $290B farm bill over Bush veto - Yahoo! News (broken link)
I think that it that if it is a bit more than sophistry to take the dollar amount of a particular piece of legislation and run around screaming about how horrible it is without a detailed discussion of the bills components, their intent so that one could make even a semi-intelligent discussion of its impact be it positive or negative.

Simply running around screaming TWO HUNDRED AND 90 BILLION DOLLARS!!!!!! is not the basis for an intelligent discussion.

No contest.

And Bush is one to talk about being too generous to farmers when he had no problem doling out subsidies to his cronies in the oil industry-this despite record profits. $47 Billion last year at Exxon alone.

Puhleeze.
And better than a Trillion given to Wall St. fat cats.
