I do try to stay in reality, and REALISTICALLY, they are NOT in the running. The race for the WH is between McCain and Obama. Anyone who cannot deduce that, well...

Basically, two criteria would be key.
If you can't find middle east countries on a map, you can't vote (displaces the "nuke 'em all" rednecks)
If you can't understand true free market economics like bond yields and federal deficits, you can't vote (takes the "gimmie gimmie" crowd out of the picture)
Basically, you have to marginalize ignorant extremists from both sides. Requiring a minimal amount of educational background is a good way to start. There's no prejudice because knowledge is essentially free with all of the public libraries and the wealth of knowledge the internet offers.
The questions: Will this book, and maybe other tattletale revelations to follow, build and maintain serious negative momentum against the Republicans that will last through November? Will they inspire enough public outrage to spark indictments?
I still haven't heard anything new... Even the fact that McClellan is a bitter person was known before.
If anything, the book will help McCain, because it puts him back in front as a rebel who was calling Bush out.

I read up on and vote in ALL of my local elections. I stay informed on ANY issue I will vote on, because I feel it's important to know all of the options.

That's fair. I believe that the time spent researching candidates who aren't viable is a waste when compared to volunteering for a local campaign. An hour of reading could be calling neighbors, etc.

It is funny that you posted this. I was just talking with an old friend of mine in CA this morning about this very same subject. If you take both extremes out of th picture those are the people I would feel most comfortable voting for President.
Unfortunately I think that would eliminate 70% of the eligible voters in our country and 90% of the politicians.
