I'd never heard of them til now, but it might be "out of the frying pan into the fire." They have a bad rep with so many governments, Human Rights Watch as well.

We allied ourselves with the Mujahdeen in Afghanistan against the Soviets. Just like with the MEK, the CIA was involved. Even they call it blowback. It's what created Osama bin Laden. It gave him an opportunity to come to power.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad predicted on Monday that Muslims would uproot "satanic powers"....
"I must announce that the Zionist regime (Israel), with a 60-year record of genocide, plunder, invasion and betrayal is about to die and will soon be erased from the geographical scene," Ahmadinejad said.
"Today, the time for the fall of the satanic power of the United States has come and the countdown to the annihilation of the emperor of power and wealth has started."
The White House quickly dismissed Ahmadinejad's latest broadside against Israel and accused him of having "total disregard" for the Iranian people's hopes and needs.
"It's that kind of rhetoric that just serves to further isolate the Iranian people," spokeswoman Dana Perino said after Ahmadinejad foresaw an end to the "satanic power" of the United States and said Israel is "about to die."

He sees his star fading, thus he tries to goad the USA or Israel into a pre-emptive attack on Iran. Such an attack would make him look like he was right all along about us being the great satan and give him a great deal of credibility in Iran -- the very opposite of what we want to do, therefore the thing to do is laugh it off, publicly.
