"Is Michelle Obama Racist?"
It takes one to know one, right?
I find disconcerting how the R-word ("racist") is being tossed around so casually like pancakes in this section of City-Data. Especially from people on both sides of the Obama argument. One thing I've learnt about being called a racist (I've been called one before): you are (not) a racist not because you say so, but because someone says so about you. If you are quick to point someone out (as a racist), you are either 1) a racist yourself, or 2) have a superficial understanding of racism (probably because in your own life you either have never experienced it, and all you know about the subject is what you read/hear about). Or both.
You know who you are!
Maybe I'm wrong, and I don't have any research to back it up. But from observation and experience living in a society where racial prejudice (written/spoken/otherwise, especially against blacks) is fashionably intolerable, trends tend to rear their ugly heads.
No, I did not address if Michelle Obama is racist. Looks like I don't have to. Everyone has already made their case.

I simply think black people need to recognize their own racism, as it is what the black community has fought against.
Obama talks about being post racial, but then attends a racist church, has a wife who wrote a racist college thesis, has a racist mentor, has made racial comments ("typical white person"), etc, etc...on and on.
In this day and age of political correctness, we can not settle for any double standard.

How is not "allowing" whites to do something or not "accepting" white pride any different?? Still racism. Stopping a race of people from doing something based on their skin color.

You know what those posts mean. race/nationality/ethnicity are all used interchangly during coversation you know this. you know what it meant. you're just trying to be antagonizing.
This will solve the argument.
Google:black pride
Google:italian pride
google: irish pride
google: cuban pride
then google: white pride
Natalayjones: stop responding. Arguing with an idiot will only make you look idiotic. Even though you may not have expressed it well, I think most people who take the time to read what you're saying will understand. Just don't run for President because the media would tear you apart

Oh.My.God On my earlier post I said black people are racist against other black people; hence, I understood Michelle's comment that she was expected to give back to the communtiy because black people feel that successful black people owe them something.
That was the first thing I said, but of course you were too busy searching for other racist remarks that you missed my point.

I was talking black racism against whites.....which Michelle Obama shows often (as does her church, her husband, his associations, etc).

I encourage you to read her racial work. The thesis, along with her choice of church, her "proud" remark, her "piece of pie" remark in Charlotte and the photo making the rounds of her with Farrakhan's wife, along with her sour attitude.....all seem to add up to a bit of racism on Michelle's part.
Will she help sink Obama?
Opinions?

LOL. Do the words "Irish Need Not Apply" ring a bell? There was a time and a place in the country in which Italians and Irish were considered different races of people. The issue is, you're making skin color the only criteria on which to base "race," when race is really an arbitrary designation that can be based on things such religion, culture, and family history:
Main Entry:
3race
Function:
noun
Etymology:
Middle French, generation, from Old Italian razza
Date:
1580
1: a breeding stock of animals2 a: a family, tribe, people, or nation belonging to the same stock b: a class or kind of people unified by shared interests, habits, or characteristics3 a: an actually or potentially interbreeding group within a species; also : a taxonomic category (as a subspecies) representing such a group b: breed c: a category of humankind that shares certain distinctive physical traits4obsolete : inherited temperament or disposition5: distinctive flavor, taste, or strength
Dictionary and Thesaurus - Merriam-Webster Online
Thus, using a much more broad definition, Irish people are indeed a race.
I think this whole discussion about race is completely out of hand. If you look too much into anyone's statements about anything to do with race, you can tweak and manipulate their words very easily to make it seem as though they're implying something that they're not. This ludicrous attempt to make the Obamas come off as "racist" against white people is getting more desperate by the minute. We're all Americans, here -- and digging up dirt to try to fuel racial tensions does a great disservice to the civil discourse, not to mention it reveals Obama's opponents' insecurities about discussing pertinent issues as opposed to resorting to shallow character attacks.

They are more impressed with her because of this. Meeeeeechelle, on the other hand...the more you know about that piece of work the less you like.
In a nut shell: Most people do not care what Cindy did and are impressed by her. Most people also are fascinated by the america hating, spoiled, whiney train wreck that is Mrs. Obama. For every 1 nasty remark you make about Mrs. McCain, 1,000 are made about SHE WHO CAN NOT BE MENTIONED.
Barry's wife is a liability and you know it.
Wasn't it charming how she scowled during most of the tv time she had during her husbands victory speech. What a horrid woman.

Right! You are dead right, how refreshing to hear someone speak the truth, Michelle is a racist, you can see it in her face.....
Barak (Barry) Hussien Obama has no qualifications to be our President, what experience does he have? NONE!!!!!!! Only thing going for him is being black....
He has no military time, only experience he has is being a senator... and most of that has been spent running for president!
"Just my oppinion"
