Dems: higher taxes, better country.

Pubs: lower taxes, but...

1) US the swaggering thugs around the world, raiding countries in order to gain access by force to their resources.

2) All states in a financial free fall because of failed war efforts.

3) Because of the financial free fall, suffering infrastructure, poorly funded schools, more crime due to less money for city services, and other state struggles. Forget about federal help during disasters.

4) Higher price for gas to make up for that tax break.

5) More divisiveness. Pubs pretend racism doesn't exist while practicing it.

6) More Visas to displace American workers. Have to maximize profit some way with those lower taxes.

7) Rich get richer. Those with money hoard it for themselves. Greed and divisiveness.

8) Exploding deficit.

9) Massive economy failures.

10) Wages don't keep up with COL.

11) Defense budget explodes.

12) The reputation of tihs country plummets around the world.

Sure, Pubs give lower taxes, but WE ALL PAY AND SUFFER IN OTHER WAYS.

Capital gains cripples the poor? are you kidding? If the poor had capital gains they wouldnt be poor.... duh!
Im thinking the war is def the thing to give up along with excessive military spending, Homeland Security I dont feel more secure with,
junk mail subsidies with the post office,
no action towards renewable fuel sources,
The profits the administration has received from their inside trading and influence
political junkets
PACs
Subsidies to foreign governments
increased welfare benefits when recipients have more children
trade subsidies when we are not selling products abroad
I think these things will go far to fix the Bush spending issues.

Deficit is caused by Congress.. not the White House..

Higher fuel prices to pay for tax cuts?

How exactly have we practiced racism? (and again, its a member of the left making up racism)

Suffering infrastructure, non funded schools?

States in financial free fall because of the "war"? (they are experiencing financial problems because they over extended their spending during the good times of the early 2000's, and now paying for it)

Please seek medical help from a professional. It seems that you've been brainwashed and are having trouble with reality.

Federal funds going to Iraq rather than US states doesn't affect state budgets?

Dems--Tax & Spend

Reps-Spend, spend, spend, we don't know who'll pay but we'll be retired to Tahiti when the bills come due

Iraq War Boosts High-Tech States

The war in Iraq will help California and other states rich in high-tech military know-how and bolster flagging aerospace economies in Washington and Missouri, economists predict.

While it's too early to tell the full impact of the war on states, it's likely the U.S. reliance on technology over troops and reservists over full-time soldiers will affect state economies differently compared to previous wars, experts told Stateline.org.

5 Years of the Iraq War: The Impact on Your State (National Priorities Project - Mar 2008) | Rethink: Media Solutions for a Safer World (broken link)

As the fifth anniversary of the Iraq War approaches on March 19th, NPP's newly released state-level publication contrasts the cost of the Iraq War with the Bush Administration's proposed cuts to selected domestic programs and the cost of making the President's tax cuts permanent. Thus far, Congress has allocated a total of $522.5 billion to the Iraq War, according to NPP. This number is projected to climb to $745.7 billion by the end of Fiscal Year 2009. Cost of war breakdowns are available for each state.

President's Budget FY 2009 and Iraq War: State Impact | National Priorities Project (http://www.nationalpriorities.org/budgetpriorities2009 - broken link)

And California Alexus?
http://www.nationalpriorities.org/auxiliary/maps_files/Budget2009/CA.pdf (broken link)

As the economy falters, President Bush’s proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2009 would
ignore the needs of Americans by cutting
basic services, increasing tax cuts for the
wealthy and pushing military spending
to historical highs. It would allow
billions more for the war in Iraq at the
expense of investments in California's
future.
War, Military Costs Would Escalate

Not sure if this supports or refutes your point Alexus however it does provide something other then mindless speculation by us normal people who post in here.

Good points but just to touch on a couple...

trade subsidies when we are not selling products abroad

According to recent numbers U.S. exports were at an all time high in April at or around 140 billion +. What added 4 billion to the deficit in the same month? Oil imports... Oligopolies sitting on reserves have no reason to dig... they're having too much fun!

the poor had capital gains they wouldnt be poor

I was just reading about a series of complex transactions some of the uber-rich go through to avoid Capital Gains tax. Maybe in not paying the cg tax, the poor are affect.

Truthfully, I don't think we should have a capital gains tax or a fed income tax... even a SS tax (which is double taxation if you ask me). I would much prefer a VAT style tax on EVERY transaction in this country of 1, even 2% or as described, a one tax as Mark Larsen suggests... to close all the loopholes that people seem to find.
