Because federal holidays are expensive, especially when you consider payroll. You're really stretching to come up with "scandals", aren't you.

I don't know. Why does this matter in 2008? I'm sure you have the correct answer to your YouTube post.

Not to be rude but MLK is dead and he has a holiday....get over it. This has zero to do with the real issues that someone needs to address in this country. I'm still waiting for Obama supporters to be able to say something he can do instead of directing everyone to a website. Hillary is gone. Where are the discussions about issues?????

For the same reason Byrd was a KKK member (and a Democratic Congressman) When Democrats excused the one, they lost the right to complain about the other.

We've recently had several threads on Iraq and economic issues. We've also had recent threads on space program policies, social security, taxes, education, energy, and health care.

I notice you don't post in them.

I honestly haven't had time to be out here as much and when I look it's more crap like this. And when I do look in those threads there is always someone who goes off on a tangent. I'm doing my own research and don't feel the need to post in every thread. No one here is going to influence me that's for sure.

How Senator McCain could have been ignorant of the significance of an MLK holiday is beyond me. King's work was as significant as (actually more so) any president whose birthday was celebrated.

But whatever. The country has the holiday, and those who were opposed to it didn't get their wishes.

It's a pertinent issue because it still bothers a lot of people that he opposed the holiday. Why shouldn't it be brought up? It's on his record.
