It seems wherever Obama goes he attracts huge crowds unseen in presidential elections [20,000+ in packed auditoriums]. Many in the crowds are former Republicans embarrassed to have voted for Bush.

The question is, why can't McCain attract more than just a handful of people? Remember his big speech a week ago? Even the well-known Republican insiders expressed disbelief in how ridiculously small & corny the audience looked.

Obama pulls in thousands of people. McCain has to pay for a few people & he can't afford it on his pathetic budget [too bad most Republicans have decided to never again support their party after the disgrace of Bush - can't blame them, I guess

Just curious. Any answers Republicans?

Because he is actually trying to say something. You need a large crowd behind you to drown out the sound of your emptiness (in Obama's case). McCain wants to tell the American people what he wants to do, and doesn't want a large, purposeless crowd behind him.

Besides, he has said a lot that he prefers intimate town hall settings. He probably requests to keep his events small and cozy.

That's it! Actually McCain tells people to stay at home b/c he gets a little light-headed in crowds over 100 people [plus at $5 a person his wife's money will run out before November. Right

His audience looked like the cast from the TV show "Hee Haw"!

Out of curiosity, do you have a reference for this?

Funny.

Large crowds should not be seen as anything but a nice spectacle. If someone bases a decision for president on the number of people they have in a crowd (which I am sure many Democrats do) then there are problems.

If all those people vote, it's my kind of spectacle.
