I just heard the new Dem commercial...I am assuming it is a tv spot, although I just heard the audio on a radio program.

It features a young mother holding an innocent babe of under 1 year. She basically calls out John McCain and his "promise" of 100 years of war in Iraq and ends with "John McCain, you can't take my Alex!" Sob.

Well, this kind of thing makes me laugh. For a few reasons. One being that the creator of the commercial thinks such maudlin antics will sway anyone but a true idiot. Which says something about what the campaign thinks about it's target audience. Two, the 100 years of war lie spread unashamedly. Three, that a woman thinks she would have any control if a grown man (her son) decided he would want to enlist in service to this country. Three also goes to that silly argument about "Why don't the republicans send their children to fight that illegal war?"....Again, adults volunteer, and are certainly not controlled by their mammy and pappy.

Just a sad commentary of the dem party, IMHO. And funny, too. But this is the party of CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN! and something about BEING THE CHANGE OR HOPE YOU WERE WAITING FOR! All very silly, childish and emotional.

I think this is the Moveon.org ad.

They are also the ones who put out the Gen. Betrayus ad, which worked so well. NOT

Yes, and of course, the Republicans have never stooped to pandering to people's emotions.

The partisan hacks on both sides keep making ads like this because they DO work on the sheeple. Unfortunate, but true.

Anyone else notice that it is usually the Democrats that spread the hate messages via television? Republican TV ads are a rarity (or at least I've never seen any?).

Huh? On exactly which planet? Or do you not have a tv?

What about the famous swiftboating lies about Kerry? Or the flip-flop accusations? Both tv commercials widely run just four years ago. What about Bush's campaign in SC against -- what was that guy's name? -- in 2000 when they insinuated that he was mentally impaired as a result of having been a POW?

I don't see the "hate" in the ad that inspired this thread. I don't think it's effective, but neither do I think it's hateful.

I'm so glad to see that my donation is being put to good use - support Move-on.org and Republicans will cry [especially since they don't have any money to support McCain since their base is demoralized - bah bah bah
