Hey you know, I think I figured out the real reason for the small rallies. McCain's an old guy with an enlarged prostate. He can't be in a big stadium 'cause he might need to quickly find a bathroom.

I told you the reason. mccain is boring, and obama has dave matthews opening for him. also, I heard a lot of the obamabots were homeless people who actually thought they were going to get "spare CHANGE" at the rallies.

You mean that's why he ran away immediately after that speech where the background was all green.

FACT: If Obama comes to Atlanta he can fill either Turner Field or the Georgia Dome to capacity. If McCain shows up here, he could not fill my kid's high school auditorium to capacity. Nobody wants to hear McCain!

People for Obama need to be a part of something or they feel useless.
Look at them in the crowd, if they are not whining about something they are finding ways to blame others for their lousy lives. Thus, needing someone to hold their hands and tell them what to do next. And the dem leaders love it! Just exactly the type of people they love.
This is the best reason, of all the posts I've read in this thread, and I've read all of them. Obama's constituency typifies socialism: people in need of some entity to fix and solve their problems. Look at those people, and what you have to realize these are people want something for nothing, i.e. raise taxes on people who earn money, and redistribute it to those who don't (a core constituency of the Obama camp, the Kerry camp, the Gore camp, the Clinton camp, just plug in one plunderer for another). These people are motivated. They see an installation of conservatism as a potential end to their subsidies (Section 8 housing, WIC, food stamps, medicaid). Every single election comes down to this very issue: how the pie is cut up. Independent people don't need politicians to solve their problems, and don't believe in this. By and large, they want to be left alone. Actions, creation of wealth, running small businesses and enterprises, providing desirable goods and services, tending to families after work, these actions require lots of time and resources. Conservatives use their time this way. Socialists have plenty of time, by and large, because they don't work very hard. They innately want to be provided for. This is base line schism between the conservative, and the socialist, the successful and the failure, the independent versus the welfare careerist.

To the OP: I didn't notice that McCain didn't have big crowds. Every time I see him on T.V. he's being interviewed, traveling, or shaking hands with his supporters. Big stadiums are very impersonal anyway IMO. I wouldn't put too much into crowds... Al Gore had standing room only crowds too and look where that got him.
