Bob Barr is not going to take many votes from Obama. Ron Paul has some appeal to libertarian leaning Dems and might siphon a few, but as far as Obama believing in out of control taxation: Part of the reason we're in the economic mess we're in is because of the huge deficit. We actually had a budget surplus for a while under Bill Clinton, but under W, we're spending much more while taking in less. It's not a good way to run a household, let alone a government.

Paul didn't try to win the nomination. He was only out there to educate. Many of his supporters either ignore or think he could, but as President, with the current Congress, he'd spend all his time vetoing legislation. There would be very little of his platform accomplished without Congressional help. He needs to form a group of supporters in Congress before really tackling the Presidency. He won't run again. The next contender will come from his group of endorsed Congressional candidates.
